It's not the incest itself I'm bitching about. Sure, incest is my fav genre along with loli and harem, but I'd rather it not have it at all rather than the fake substitute version of it (stepcest). Even just aunt- and cousin-fucking is usually considered "poor man's incest" among fans. And yes, stepcest is a worldwide problem not from any single country, for the simple reason it's mostly done to appease the morality police overlords Visa/MC (a global corporation). Wish everyone would just get a digital wallet and switch to crypto payments already, that would quickly solve the corporate censorship problem.

But for the gentlemen of the false-morality police, stepcest is also considered incest, and that makes me want to understand why stepcest is used so much

While Patreon makes no distinction, Visa/MC do and have done so for at least the past 30 years, pretty much since internet porn was invented and probably before even then, since the incest porn supply kinda started drying up in the late 1980's after a few studios made it popular in the early 1980's. Don't ask me why they do when in some places you can't even legally fuck your stepsister or whatever, so it probably has little to do with roleplaying illegal things like some claim. And even if you call and you ask them odds are they will pass the buck between departments until you hopefully give up before getting an answer since they themselves will claim to not know why they have things in their TOS that allow one thing but not another (fuck corporations that are so big it's left hand doesn't know what the right is doing).

It's really complicated to try to understand this, but in any case, designated by Visa/MC, Patreon decides what is or isn't prohibited here at f95. So if the devs opt for stepcest I still don't understand lol

Only thing I can think of is the dev's own moral compass. To some even when imaginary stepcest is fine but actual fucking blood relatives is cringe-inducing, esp when you are the one writing the story, posing the renders, etc. Probably for the same reasons incest fans find incest hot but stepcest annoying: with stepcest there's no additional associated risks like inbreeding, getting outed and the social stigma that goes with that, going to jail, the forbidden fruit factor no longer applying, etc. You're basically just fucking a friend with the only difference being they just happen to live in the same house as you.

I think you're right that the use of stepcest comes from the moral compass of each developer, however they don't admit it (at least I've never seen anyone assume it), it's always Patreon's fault lol.

The only thing I have to do is ignore this thread, since I hate stepcest.

Here's Patreon's incoherent policy, which suggests that even the 'step' is forbidden unless it's one step (har) removed, like mother in law. But then the very last 'Permitted' point opens up a giant loophole.

There are men named 'Lara' and women named 'Steve'



And then the game is constantly making sure you know (and the Chinese censors know) this is STEP-sex, only STEP!




The bodies are plastic and the sex is entirely boring. Honestly I don't think a search and replace getting rid of all the 'step' is going to save this turd. I'm deleting it now.
