I think we shouldn’t compare gigantic production companies with one-man productions. Also, if big companies communicate in advance about their extended/shared universe projects, it’s for a reason. They don’t prepare their audience ahead of time for nothing.... Is this any different from what creators have done in virtually every medium?
Here, we just have two guys having fun. I even suspect (though I could be wrong, of course) that we’re more in a situation like, ‘Can I use this?’ ‘Yeah, I don’t care, do whatever you want,’ or ‘Hey, what if we did a cross-feature?’ ‘Okay…’
Basically, a full-speed-ahead approach, with each one having their own story idea and not worrying too much about the rest.
Except from the player’s perspective (and even worse, the backers), it might not be as cool because the two project share a big chunk of the same public!
That’s what I was trying to say (maybe clumsily, and I apologize if that’s the case) in my previous post…
