So because Shadow takes inspiration from MNGF its plundering and you feel there is a "feud"?
The devs know each other, yes. I am sure if MNGF Dev doesnt like what Shadows is doing they can speak up for themselves.

I like both games and they clearly have a different story and a different approach in how to go about things.
I know very well that the two know each other! They even do some light cross-featuring! Kate from Shadows is the unknown girl Eric meets at the Neon Club…

Maki is the unknown girl in Shadows’ NYCT Club (by the way, she even references the Neon Club -> another club not too far away). And funny thing about this one, they even went as far as sharing the hmm.mp3 audio file from MNGF for Maki’s appearance in Shadows, just renamed CGsmirk.mp3 (18KB)… Nice little detail!

All of this is pretty cool, but where it becomes problematic from a player’s perspective is that the situations are copy-pasted!

Take Eric’s reaction when discovering the Neon Club: ‘Whaow, big, can hear the music from the inside’—almost the exact same lines for Luke…

And then both clubs have the same decor and lighting (pink/gray).

And then you have the same tables cutting the screen horizontally with shots on them (okay, the drink color is different)…

Etc...

That’s what I mean by plundering.

Yet, the solution is already there—they just need to fully embrace it by officially declaring that the games share the same universe!

Then you make it a single club with a single decor, and suddenly it’s not jarring anymore. The NYCT bouncer becomes Samuel (especially since they’re identical except for skin color…), and everything falls into place. And you can share all the assets you want without a Patreon thinking, “Wait, am I paying for the same game twice??”

IMHO, if this shared universe isn’t treated as a real feature, then it’s just an excuse for a certain kind of laziness! And I’m saying this while fully acknowledging that Shadows still represents a huge amount of work!

I think it’s a shame that someone casually checking out these 2 games—like many people do—will just see two productions that look so similar they won’t even know who inspired who… :cautious:

Aside from the foregone conclusion of "plundering" poppycock, I missed the part where this is a problem... Sharing assets? Same universe? "Brand"? Is this any different from what creators have done in virtually every medium? If it were one dev who said I wanna write two separate stories would that be an issue (aside from the smartassery here by some fuckface about how you're never gonna reach potential time schdeule fap qaulity quack rbrrrrrrrrrrbr)?

Otherwise thanks for pointing out the crossover in MNG, I hadn't noticed_

I think we shouldn’t compare gigantic production companies with one-man productions. Also, if big companies communicate in advance about their extended/shared universe projects, it’s for a reason. They don’t prepare their audience ahead of time for nothing.

Here, we just have two guys having fun. I even suspect (though I could be wrong, of course) that we’re more in a situation like, ‘Can I use this?’ ‘Yeah, I don’t care, do whatever you want,’ or ‘Hey, what if we did a cross-feature?’ ‘Okay…’
Basically, a full-speed-ahead approach, with each one having their own story idea and not worrying too much about the rest.

Except from the player’s perspective (and even worse, the backers), it might not be as cool because the two project share a big chunk of the same public!
That’s what I was trying to say (maybe clumsily, and I apologize if that’s the case) in my previous post…

No offence, bro, but what the actual fuck are you waffling about? You're just typing to type at this point.

The developers promote each other's games on their Patreon feeds when the other one releases an update, and they have cameos of characters from each other's games. They are - at best - friends, and - at worst - cordial acquaintances. There is no "feud", and it's not some one-sided "urgh, this fucker wants to ride on my coat tails, sure, I don't care, do whatever you want" thing. They probably just thought it was a fun crossover idea and coordinated it together.

Also, SoA's last update was fuckin' massive. The club was like...what, a fifth of the content? If somebody thinks SoA's last update somehow wasn't "worth it" because it featured a club scene - like MNG did in its last update - then, like...that person's a moron?

Don’t start like that when you know full well you’ll try hard to be offensive. At the very least… it’s immature.

And don’t put words in my mouth. That’s what dumbasses of all kinds do, and like everything dumbasses do, it’s irrelevant.

I’m speaking from a pirate site with the data available there. If Patreons are aware of a joint announcement implying an official crossover, they can correct me, no problem. As long as they don’t act like dumbasses, of course.

‘Feels like,’ ‘Sounds like,’ ‘Seems like,’ doesn’t mean ‘It is’… Okay, sure, that’s a nuance dumbasses usually don’t get, but that’s not my problem.

If the latest update is ‘massive,’ it doesn’t change what I’m saying. It’s irrelevant (!) and not an argument to invalidate my remarks.

Have a good day Sir.

Just a weird opinion, but an opinion nonetheless and I respect it. I play both games... I don't support either of them due to my financial situation, but for me, they seem completely different. Both games have a club scene and both have a similar color scheme? Welcome to AI generated content..., For me, what's important, is the content. The club scene in MNGF is completely different from the one in SoA. Based on what was said this update, it seems like a beach scene is coming up with quite a few characters, if you're gonna shout, MNGF did a beach scene, that other game is doing a copy-pasta, then you're just a plain old idiot. If the scenes were identicial content wise, for example Milo getting a handjob from Alice, then yeah, I'd say it's the same, but it's not. Also this game has a very simple plot, while the other is actually building a story besides all the sex which is nice to see and read.

Some people should be banned from commenting or reviewing games on this forum. There's no NTR = Bad game, or why do we have to wait multiple updates before the GF fucks another guy = You're spoiled by Netorase Manga.

At this point I'm just going on a rant, from my perspective both games have their qualities and seem to be going in seperate directions, but also stay in touch with eachother, which is great for someone that enjoys both and would love to see more cross-overs.

The club scene in SoA was mostly roughly planned before Abyss even knew what CG was doing with his club scene. Every other scene in our respective last chapters is entirely different.

I dont want to derail this thread more than it has been but theres absolutely no feud. CG is an amazing dev, but we are not privy to his plans months in advance so yeah, occasionally we will accidentally overlap in areas when we are trying to catch some similar vibes in many ways.

Also the review by abirvg was spot on, bravo. This game has a huge amount of possibilities and often goes in ways one doesnt expect. And of course you never know if its the MC or somebody else who will be the main center of attention for the girls in any given scene.

Somebody actually did ask a few pages back if people on the discord prefer nts or stepcest. That is nearly impossible to answer in any sort of scientific manner, but based on suggestions/feedback/fan art that gets posted and the reactions to these I think both are very popular but NTS moreso. There has been plenty of fan art and ideas for both though.

Welcome to AI generated content...
Yes, but actually no! Because you can tune the general tone/color atmosphere with your prompt. IF you end up with the same thing, it just means you used a default LoRa without tuning it. And at worst, in post prod, you can take all your backgrounds (for a specific area) and change the hue or whatever... This is the kind of thing that makes me say there’s a bit of laziness in that regard.

I generally agree. The story will always be the most important part, and the backgrounds, as long as you spend a minimum amount of time on them, are secondary. But when too many things start giving you a sense of déjà vu, both in writing and in the settings/backgrounds, at some point, the cup overflows, and what was excusable until then suddenly doesn’t pass anymore…

You’re quoting me, but I’m sure I’ve never brought up the topic of NTR or anything related over this board. So I don’t have much to say about that remark, except that yes, the flame wars that come from it can be pretty annoying…

Pretty much agree if I set aside my criticism of the form and a few annoying repetitions I mentioned.
If, and I hope so, these two devs are planning a coherent world together, the whole thing has serious potential…

Also it is wildly known that some of the games are backed up here ratings wise. So trusting a game’s ratings/patron numbers is nothing but nonsense.
yeah alot of ratings can be biased so i dont trust that i play the game and make my own opinion game has potential art wise its great but thats all i like at the moment i like tension in my nts games not lovey dovey stuff doesnt work for me
