No need, Eric and his "sisters" are already adopted by Laura in canon, they grew up together but by canon are not blood related. There is still an unofficial patch somebody else made, but the familial intimacy is there anyway, even without the blood relation. In the case of Vi and her father, there's simply no plans in that regard and therefore no need to make them step related or anything else.

The characters in MNGF are supposed to be at college age which makes him running after her quite, yeah well, overbearing to say the least.
