I honestly can't recall a single patreon porn game that wasn't de facto dropped. Closest is Urban Demons where the dev actually went back after dropping it to revamp the game and add an ending but even that was mostly a "wrap up"; otherwise we get stuff like Insexual Awakening which simply declared the game over between updates and added a lacklustre epilogue.
There's honestly no reason to support patreon games unless the dev clearly knows what they're doing like Peasant's Quest. If one wants to support game devs I think it makes much more sense to pay upfront for japanese games like SEQUEL Blight or whatever Kagura Games is working on rn.
You have captured in full, how a game should be developed.
In fact, Japanese games (all of them, from action-rpg to porn games), are first developed and completed (they also have their respective channel-chats, which the various publishers devote to the developers, like a DL site, but with a support method, completely different from the Western one), then they are purchased.
And between development and completion, there is also something called BugFix and internal BetaTester.
But some (Western) developers don't seem to want to understand this.
I think the explanation is very simple;
- The way, technique, and "corporate" policy of many platforms, such as patreon, is essentially the politics of debt. (I develop this, if you give me this).
This is followed by the policy of Blackmail. (I will show you more, if you give me more).
In fact, as can be seen, the consequence is precisely the creation of content that very often are superficial, rushed and ultimately mediocre.
This explains why many games are abandoned and many developers disappear from circulation.
Not before, however;
- Of deceiving many people.
I don't know if this is also the case with this developer, but I don't think he will abandon the game in question.
That is, unless, he decides, after completing it, to not fix the many bugs, which the game has been carrying around since its inception.
Another very important thing;
F95zone, has become a remarkable reference point, as far as technical discussions, asset development, creativity and support are concerned. (Many patreon users, subscribestar, etc., are; Mostly f95 users)

Meaning paying users and developer users.
