Progress Update | 11/03/2024

Hello there you super cute and very amazing people!

Another week, another progress update!

Like I promised, I posted a lewd render with one of the prequel girls included. This time it was Bethany and Katharina and for the weekend I plan to use Lea and Sabrina. I feel like this will bring the prequel girls a little closer to you guys.

Speaking of the prequel, I'm almost at a point where I can release a small teaser version for supporters. It won't really be a beta, see it more as an alpha, something you can play and then decide "Okay, I like this already" or say "No, this is pretty bad". This is just to get a few first impressions on the game and since pledges are still paused, it will be for people that stayed pledged through the time. It will be posted on the Discord and the script should be ready this week, then it's just going to be rendering. I gathered a bunch of assets already and decided to change from "College" to "University", since this makes more sense with what I have in mind ( and apparently, college and uni is almost the same in america?) Todays progress update render shows rei in the lecture hall of the architecture class the MC is visiting. This is actually the first time you meet here and you can already decide in that moment if you want to get to know her better. Since she recently moved from Japan to where the MC is living, she could use some help finding her way around. I can highly recommend going that route with her because Rei is more than just someone you meet in the prequel. Let's just say that the MC in My New Memories will remember who she is in Chapter 4, even though he has no idea in the prequel. Maybe you already have a guess where this could go? We don't know much about a certain side of the Japanese family after all...

Honestly, working on the prequel has been a blast so far. I was really scared in the beginning because a lot of people could get the impression I'm abandoning My New Memories to start something new, which is one hundred percent not the case. The only reason I'm making this prequel is to continue work in DAZ3D and create something in the My New Memories "universe" that let's me use the two characters I have, Sabrina and Bethany, in a manner that makes sense in the end. We basically know nothing of the MCs past in My New Memories because of his amnesia and even though he got his memories back at the end of chapter 3, I don't want to "waste" too much time in the original game in the past. Stuff like the future with Anna, the half sisters and Karla arriving and the family healing in general is more important to me than to tell something that happened before he reuined with Anna again. This is where the prequel comes into play, where I can also continue to improve my writing work. But that will be something you can judge once you play the first version! But it's helping a lot that almost all of you amazing people are so understanding and supportive in the most difficult times of my life. I really hope that the next few weeks will finally bring clearance, but the prequel will happen regardless I think, at least if people like it as much as I hope they will be.

And I think that's it for now. I will update you guys, as usual, if I get any news regarding my case. If you have any questions feel free to comment or message me here, I'll try to answer all of them as soon as possible. In the meantime, stay awesome, and thanks again for all the amazing support you guys have been giving me through these last months. Really, without you people I wouldn't be here right now, I think. You can see my explanation of the differences on the OTHER thread where this shows up. Basically, as the terms are used in the US, you can have a college without having a university, but you can't have a university without having at least two colleges.

Here in Germany you usually start uni when you are ~20, depending on how long you make your "Abitur" which is basically a degree you do after finishing high school ( which ends when you are 16 ). I have no idea when people start to go to college, but I guess the characters will all be around 20, except Bethany and Katharina, Lea's mother. ( Even though I won't do ages for the prequel either ).

Europe, college is usually 16-18yo, sometimes 19. Then you go to university for 3 to 5 years depending on degree and whether going bachelers or Masters. This is changing in some countries though as they adopt the US model of staying in 'school' until 18, thus bypassing the usual 'college entryway' completely and going straight to Uni at 18.

Recently (last few years) some 'colleges' are also offering 'degree' courses, though whether they will actually be seen as relevent as a university degree or not by employers remains to be seen.

Here in Canada you can.start College and Uni as young as 16. Although most people are 17 due to that being the most common age people finish highschool.

Usually if you have to do a prerequisite your college or Uni will offer it as part of your course. The maim difference between the 2 here is college is usually for the the trades and blue collar work. While uni is the medical and sciene fields.

Ohhh, it's makes sense yeah. Here in Quebec we tend to finish high school at 17, so I basically was 21 when I started university (turned 22 during the year), so I was in uni from 21-22 until 25-26.

Nevermind what I said then. In my head, I was picturing them to be like 25. Sorry.

The primary difference here in the States is that Universities offer undergraduate and graduate level programs, whereas Colleges are, as far as I know, undergraduate only. There may be specialized schools that offer more, but anything like a community college, technical or vocational school is undergraduate only. A lot of people will do undergraduate Bachelor programs at a local community college because they tend to be significantly cheaper, and then transfer to a University for Master's and Ph.D programs.

Very very different in Germany then compared to the rest of Europe.

In the States there really isn't a set age when people attend college. While the majority that go start right out of highschool, often times people take a "gap year" to explore other possibilities, or simply to take time off before starting the next phase of their education.
When I started, there were a number of "non-traditional" students (at least for the time) going to the same university where I was; a couple were well into their 30s.

For myself, I got my first degree fairly early at 20, and then didn't finish my last degree until I was nearly 40.
Between the two I took time off from school, worked, saved, started a family, and then when I went back I did so online, part-time, and attended every other semester until I finished my doctorate.

All that is to say, there is no set rule for how old someone is when they go to college, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
