I've been waiting for a year and a half now. I'm waiting because it's one of my favorite games. Addictive. I am very sorry for everything that happened to you. But I think that during this time it was possible to recreate the characters and continue the game. Today I only have a vague memory of what happened in the game. I wish you would finish it. I hope that maybe one day, when I accidentally find a finished game, I will play it from the beginning.
I will have a longer explanation this week on why I didnt remake the chars yet. I mentioned it a few times but the tl;dr is that as long as there is even the slightest chance that I get my files back, I rather wait and work on the prequel then to remake chars because in the end, I know that I will hate the remade chars and not enjoy working with them..

Was it possible to recreate the characters? Yes.
Would anyone has thought it will take 1+ year before he'll have his things back? No.
So, that explain why it wasn't an option at that time.

I'm with you on that.
Unless it's made sure they won't give back your stuff, or way more time has passed (like three years or more) I wouldn't make new models.
It won't be the exact same, which would annoy me, and I absolutely hate doing things that I've already done.
It's very shitty to have to wait that much time to get your stuff back and for us to have the game, but we know it isn't your fault.
I'll continue waiting no matter the time because this game is worth it.

Same here I loved both games just as they were. Changing Characters at this point will only bring about disappointment. Like I told you before I'm behind you 1000% Killer7 and I have faith that ALL of drives & electronics will be returned to you.

K7, you've probably seen enough crap about the main game characters on the many forums you interact on already, while them being absent for so long, that it's no wonder you're a bit prickly and thin skinned about them.
You've got a hall pass in my book to be a bit snarky in defense of your own work, just don't get banned.
That said, I've interacted with many people well into legal age (some above 50) that act and look like the youngest daughter and the rest of the youngest part of the cast, I've also interacted with 18+ that I'm certain some would say couldn't get married in The Vatican State 9 out of 10 times.

The ageist discussion is so subjective that from visuals and behavior alone, most will get it wrong in more cases than they think.

There is basically 0% chance I'm not getting my render assets back. Like, literally. That one crucial SSD only contains daz3d files and their render previews. So they will have to give it back to me.

US Law Enforcement does a bit by bit copy of drives and then does all data analysis off that since they will have tools and what not for the system the disk is on already.
I would not be surprised if it is the same in Germany
That is how they preserve the equipment in their care as well when it does have to go back to owner

Or it passes from hand to hand and is thrown into subsequent drawers. And you know how disks like it. I don't let anyone touch my disk with sensitive data. Or a copy of it either.
