I am still wondering if there is a fix that addresses the dialogue box, which can't be switched on and off with H in the usual way. Thanks!

Only recall seeing 1 other person saying they had that kind of trouble with this game, and I've never had the problem with any version/update while playing. Both the standard h key and middle mouse button can show/hide the dialogue box without issue, including on a fresh install of the latest v1.75 version. There have been several game crashing issues in the past, wondering if one affected your save. Have you tried starting a new game to see if the problem persists?
If after trying that nothing else is working, you could also try to explicitly add a plain 'h' (and 'shift' version) to the keymapping like I've seen it in other games:

The game has been updated to version 1.80. Just go to the Patron page and your see titled: " My new neighbors 1.80 ". it has public links for both the full game version 1.80 and just an update to 1.80

The story has to progress to the point the office is unlocked, then Catherine's content follows after you corrupt Aria (past stage 3) and Jean (past stage 2). The hover tip in the phone for Catherine until Aria/Jean are corrupted enough says something like "Follow Aria's, Jean's and Mira's stories to the end". Once you advance the other office characters Catherine's phone tip will change to simply "Go to her office." That's the start of the Catherine corruption events.
Just a note that the long running bug where you can get fully transformed Karen early sometimes due to Michele's story instantly unlocking fully upon her first appearance even if other stories it should be locked behind are not done yet is still present. Karen will shift back and forth depending on if you are in her story or Michele's.
1) HR looks really weird with the grey outlines.
2) talking to Bonnie or Brie in HR causes a crash.
3) if you try to talk to Mercy too many times at the bar, the game just stops (no error, but no options or continuing; manual scene rollback required).
4) inconsistency: Mercy reverts to unconverted in scenes with Cathy after conversion.

How do I unlock the office? I seem to have completed everyone's content except Heather's, which says "Time to corrupt the other friends (only sex scene for now)", although I seem to have already turned everyone, and nothing I do raises anyone's affection. I've gotten there before, but it was a while back ago, so I'm not sure what to do now, and I'm wondering if I hit a bug I didn't before.

The office (or rather the "Company") is unlocked on the map at completion of the family pool party event. The event happens to celebrate everyone in your home and Kate's home having been turned, and triggers when you then go to sleep in your room.
The final progress check specifically looks that you have Chloe and Betty to Corruption Stage: 5, Kat to stage 4, and Maria to stage 3. Recommend you check the levels of those girls first.

Looks like an old bug I've seen before that never got officially patched up. If I recall, to cause the crash you had to leave the house to trigger an event for Ally during 'Late Night'. Any other time of day wouldn't crash the game, so an easy workaround is to just go to sleep in your room to advance the game to the next day (so it's no longer Late Night) and then leave the house to trigger the event during the daytime. Someone else told me they got around it by loading an earlier save and avoided triggering the event during Late Night, so that could work as well.
