I don't know exactly what happened in Torimiata's case since I didn't follow everything, even though I played the game. But my intention isn't to do a full remake like he did. What I want to do is more of a visual update, and maybe add some images or improve scenes that currently just fade to black, to help with understanding and transitions

For me, this change that we see is the best, because we see that you are trying hard and improving as the game progresses...

I understand your point as a dev, but since I've been on this forum (2018) this has never come across as something good.
You may end up wanting to change something the way you do it later on and in the same way there will be another "fix".

The smartest way has always been and always will be to change after the game is complete, so if you want to make a remake or update, it's up to you.

Personally I see no issue with the earlier game version graphic (I understand the feel of wanting to update it by dev), they look good but I have to agree with earlier comment about 0.4.5 being waste of time, its early game and story introduction, no big action happen there so most people probably don't really care (even more so because they aren't even bad).
Making it public here that 0.5 is supposed to be huge makes the 0.4.5 seem even more pointless.

I feel like making story progress priority would be better and upgrading the early chapters leave as something that you do on the side and implement it eventually at some point when its done.
As you already see people will be thinking like we had chapter 5 is he going to do 0.5.5 fix now? chapter six came out is it time for 0.6.5 fix ?
For me it's no big deal, it's just going to be different time wait to see story progress.

Btw, great story so far. Curious of that chapter 4, will probably see it on par with other great ones like Moonripple Lake, Blurring Walls, Shadows of Ambition and College of Mysteria

That was exactly my mindset back then, and it ended up backfiring. One of the biggest criticisms I've received so far was the inconsistent look of the MC in Chapters 01 and 02

But in the end, this is something I plan to do only once, and it won't even take much time

How many people follow the game ? how many support it financialy ? how many are active about it with comments ? how many were giving the critic ?
Which statistic to consider ? kinda hard to tell, other games devs seem to have similiar issue with this (maybe im just wrong? no idea)
You can always give it a look from making vote, do they prefer you to fix the early game look? or do they prefer you to focus on story progress ?
Different views, different opinions. In the end its your game and focus on what you think is right, you will never please everyone so the best thing to do is to focus on your work and not lose the passion for making it.

Ah, so a light remake. you clarified what you meant with remake, now please keep your word by not changing the scope of the remake you have planned. Don't starve us of such a great game by pulling a torimiata

No problem at all, man! I totally understand. Honestly, it's not uncommon to see devs making really questionable decisions or, with all due respect, just milking their supporters

But as for me, I'll always do what I believe is best for the future of the project, then for myself, and then for the audience. My decisions won't always be the right ones, which is why your feedback and support are so important
