There is a sort of "build in walktrough", I think it works great, just read the hints, you might need to play it several times though from start.

There's a program called AssetsBundleExtractor. You can use it for every unity game as far i know.
I may have missed something but, why wasn't Val invited to the dinner? Aside from having a branch in the story of course.
Though making several trips with her fiance would increase the chances her being seen with him. Maybe the rest of the family doesn't know about the engagement to keep it under wraps or they don't like her? That's all I can think of.
