This game never tries to establish or create any sort of story or plot. After the games introduction all aspects of story are complelty abadoned and replaced with a slice of life environment. It's a sandbox game that will have you spend time with the different heroines everyday and improve your relationship with them, eventually of course fucking them. That's about it for this game, there's nothing really past that, no linear story exists and you mostly get to choose the order of which girl's path to go down first or multiple at a time (doesn't matter). Most of the heroines aren't terrible per say but most of them do feel quite bland. None of their characters are fleshed out or devlop in any way shape or form. There's no memoriable interactions or moments at any point that will have you ever feel something other than lust lol. This definitly isn't helped by the absolute most blank slate, self insert MC I've ever seen. This guy has as much individuality as a brick wall. He doesn't even have the typical "Nice guy," "Pervert," type of "Personality," he simply doesn't have one. It's to the point where you could remove all his lines and the story wouldn't even be affected. Half the time it feels like the heroines are talking to themselves and since none of them are that particularly interesting in their own right, it creates quite boring interactions and a dull atmosphere. There's absolutely no flow of conversation, it feels as if someone threw a brick at your head and then asks you what a rhombicosidodecahedron is. I understand that this is a porn game at the end of the day and that it's a free one at that but for a game so popular and highly rated there's no excuse for some of this stuff. As for the h scences, most of them are extremely vanilla with a lot of exhibition and some threesomes thrown in. I really can't complain and there are some decent h scenes (Later in game) in here but most of them are extremely forgettable. The early game's h scenes animations are god awful, unfappable I tell you which is really unfortunate. The animations do get better with time and it's they've been pretty good these past few updates. However, the game's renders cannot be ignored. Simply put, they're god awful (Even by 2017 standards), they have about 5 pixels and look like something you would find on 4chan in 2010. They have not aged AT ALL to modern standards, original honey select simply isn't the way to go anymore.
I could see why some people could like the game, it's a very lax and vanilla experience that has a shit ton of h scenes. If that's what you want go for it, but it simply has way too many problems for me to rate it anything above 2 stars.
