So... abandoned?
On November 2nd, the devs posted on their Patreon:

"

Hey everyone, we must apologize for the lack of updates regarding v0.20. Development has moved very slowly for a while due to real life issues.
However, for the past month or so, we've been able to pour a lot more time into v0.20. It's currently over halfway finished and we expect development to continue at a good pace. We don't have a definitive release date yet, but we're hoping for sometime later this month."

Real life got in the way, but development of next episode is over halfway done.

When will it get released? Anyone's guess, but in the meantime, progress is still being made.

It's always real life issues for this creator. They gave the same reason for the last update (which stretched to well beyond 6 months I believe), so I wouldn't keep your hopes up for any updates anytime soon.

Halway finished at 6 months big yikes. The development of this game has gone to complete shit in the past 2 years. So has their communication skills.
and it shows how much they bullshit people too, say they're half way, and they think they can finish the other half in a month, that means by standard, we SHOULD be getting updates every 2, MAYBE 3 months tops, if they can actually work at that capacity, but it's just all bullshit as always. devs get complacent. this is why i don't think people should support devs on patreon unless they have like, an upwards of a year of work already more or less done with, and can continually put out steady work. I don't think any of them should work for free, granted, but I think you should at least have enough to show you can comfortably continually put out content on a regular basis and are willing to earn that support, but people just blindly supporting something they like, with no guarantee of any compensation for that support besides a render that takes 5 minutes, is why games like these that start out promising lose gas immediately. The people that support the likes of Glacerose, Jikei, Icstor, bluecat, irphaeus, sirD, all these devs that have made countless promise after promise, unable to fulfill them, time and time again, they're the problem. if they didn't exist, people would be more willing to pull out their funding, and then these devs would suddenly be more willing to work for their updates, but those passive, unaffected, undaunted, supporters that forget they're paying for nothing, they're why this is such a big problem now.

Although i agree to some extent that is not the full picture, supporters pulling their funding isn't automatically going to make the game development faster, game development is a very difficult process and quite creatively draining if it is all about money for the dev they have better path to pursue than spend time on this mostly underpaid sector, it's not like slow updates isn't directly linked to the patrons anyway, people do stop eventually and for those who don't are just hoping that it doesn't get completely abandoned which if you will notice majority of games end up going, tldr less patrons even less motivation and slower development, although there are cases where dev is earning a lot and has garnered a massive fanbase and are somewhat comfortable and operating at a slower pace than normal, there is always pressure and well these are pretty rare.

Hey everyone, I just got over a pretty bad bout of covid, which unfortunately delayed my development on v0.20 further. Thankfully most of my symptoms are gone now and development has resumed. I'll need to take some time for the holidays, but the release should be ready shortly after. Thanks for your understanding!
Cheers,

Depends on underlying health conditions and vaccinations, not to mention which strain, one of my friends' moms just died from it the other day.
Ive had it 4 times and every time it was pretty mild. It did however go through my household like a wrecking ball. its an unpredictable illness. My coworkers father had it mild once and then got it again then came down with covid pneumonia which ultimately killed him. I know a few ppl that had sever symptoms who still have long lasting symptoms. And what you said aswell.
