Yeesh... 13ish weeks since last release, and not a peep about the next version

From the 2/5/24 patreon post:

Anyway, I believe actions speak louder than words, so I don't expect anyone to have much faith in Mythic Manor until it starts releasing at an acceptable rate (and our communication is improved greatly). I'm striving to make that a reality this year.
So much for turning over a new leaf :(

Look at the time span from 0.20 to 0.21 releasing the updates are not fast.

From that same February 5 Patreon post:

Shortly after v0.20 released, we were planning on hiring someone else, but things fell through. But now, we are in the final steps of hiring a different person to help with several areas of the game's development. I consider it important for quality to stay the same (or improve), so finding the right person that we could also trust wasn't easy. We'll have more details once this is completely finalized, but you can expect this addition to significantly speed up development (after v0.21). The goal is to have an update at least every 2-3 months or so.
Obviously getting back on track to updates on a 3-4 month cycle was a goal, not a promise, but they've gone back to radio silence, which is disappointing.

Over 900 fanboys still fork over money to the devs on Patreon each month, so what real driving pressure or motivation is there for them to get their act together? It's not like if they did, their subs would suddenly double or triple. If they wanted real movement on those numbers, they'd have to actually improve the art I suspect.

The developer keep adding more characters without conaider adding more story & H-scenes to the existing characters
I like the new characters that have been added, but we've definitely passed the point of diminishing returns. Some of the main girls haven't had content in forever and some of the side girls that have been in the game since the start still barely have any content.

I get the devs have had some issues in the past 2 years, but with the game only getting an update on average every 8 months the new girls are only hurting the game by adding more work for the devs and making content scarce for characters people already like.

Not saying they should never add new ones, but more focus on the current ones would be better considering the games current update cycle.

Exactly. Remember Velle? For some reason in the initial versions I got the feeling that she was the "main" girl who would "recruit" newer people into the harem.

It's like they dropped tens of scenes to flesh her character out and then bam, just went missing

Yeah, I had the same interpretation of Velle's role in the game as you. Damn, she's only had one solo event and one group event in the past three years. It's baffling how a main girl can be ignored this much in a "harem" game. I added quotes because this hasn't felt like a harem game in years. It's just been the MC sleeping around and dating multiple girls who somehow don't know about or acknowledge the MC's other relationships. Even the group events feel like casual encounters; the girls just forget the instant they're over.

If the game doesn't get abandoned, at this point, it feels like we're just going to get a rushed harem ending where the girls find out and have one group sex scene, then end credits. Which is depressing because for all the game's flaws, all the girls are likeable, and there are so many potential story-focused and lewd-focused scenes that we could have if the developers stopped fucking around and actually committed to making a harem game.

A lot of indie devs seem to have a focus/attention/discipline problem. They get bored quickly, and then the only way they can mentally force themselves to work on the game, is to add some new shiny shit that's momentarily new and interesting to them. It smells like that's what is going on here. Plus this one doesn't make INSANE amounts of money, like it's respectable but not at the job-replacement level of hugely successful titles, so there isn't a massive money motivator to help fight the laziness urge.

Life got hectic, but I'm ready to talk mad shit again

but nah, back to the topic at hand I would have to agree. It feels like a lot of these devs go in with an end goal in mind, but as the game gets older and you've created this vast world with different characters, you almost don't want to end that world that you have created. So you end up adding meaningless stuff or extra girls to fuck without adding anything to the story. I mean how long has the church been in this game and there's still nothing to do there. Laziness (for lack of a better word) and not wanting to end the story

I say this because it's exactly what I picture myself doing if I ever started a vn

My frustration is that despite these long delays, the updates are just kind of half baked.

A single event is 15-40 still images, and a few short animations (if it's an H event)
There aren't a lot of complicated mechanics here, but let's say they are having development issues, nothing is stopping them from getting the writing done, the slides made, or the animations started.

There's just no valid excuse for not being able to get an update done every 6 months, even if it's just side-hustle money that they're making.

For "complexity" of this game's production (just HS+RenPy) it INSANE money. it's still higher than the average salary of many countries for literally nothing. And it could have been much more if the developer wasn't lazy because now it's only supported by those who are too lazy to cancel their subscription and even that brings in something higher than the average salary of many countries lol.
