Ye... Sadly he slowed down A LOT with the updates

For what its worth, 0.09 added a whole new in person interface + double or triple the amount of art to show change of expression mid conversation.

From there they took a 2 week vacation and was ill for another week having caught something during international travel. They're posting updates and cute images on their patreon 3-4 times a week, and looks like they've previewed a new feature for 0.010. The update should be out anytime soon.

Well if I remember right between 0.8 and 0.9 there is more than month, as you said the quality Is still there, but the updates are noticibly slower

The problem with new features is it introduces the argument of "why are we reinventing the wheel when the original was fine". Even before the new features, the community was invested in the game and the new updates were being pumped out fairly fast IMO.
Now they're going to have to do 2 POVs every single update and it's going to slow down even more if they're adding more features. I let my sub run out because, pics are nice and everything but, going from a new update every three weeks to this is unfortunate.

I think this is true - both because I have been spending more time playing games I enjoy compared to doing nothing but develop NekoNTR for 10 hours a day but also because these updates are just longer story-wise with more CGs (which are also more complex).

I mean 2 POVs have been in the game since the start, but yeah I don't really think about milking the week-to-week or monthly updates just for the sake of getting out updates - I just want to make a good non-generic game as long as it takes. I could've stuck with a texting UI even for the IRL break and updated a bit quicker (but that wouldn't change time lost to holidays and illness and it just being summer) but that would've just been boring. But I guess it would save the mental anguish and many hours of manually cutting out character sprites in Photoshop? I wish I was a quicker dev but it does just take me so long to pick out good CGs because I'm so picky and I often end up rewriting large bits of the story after re-reading them.

I do think about how much effort each new feature will take to maintain though... like the diary is an hour spent at the very end of each update to summarize Vanilla's thoughts - which to me is worth it even just to have a rough day-by-day summary of what happened to Vanilla. It was a huge amount of initial effort though filling in all the existing days before that update.

I want to say like 'nooo you have to support your favorite developers' or something but if I had a game I really liked and had to wait months for updates I would just unsubscribe too xD - at least until the next update - so that's fair.

Yeah, by the 2nd POV I was referring to the last update where you got to ACTUALLY see what went on during the course of the day and not the texting from her POV. I do enjoy the pics but, there's been many games I've supported (as well as other people i'd imagine) where Devs try to put a lot of new "shiny" things into the game, get burnt out because, it's expected that the game will have those things going forward and then the updates come to a crawl and eventually get abandoned.
Each update I've dropped the $3 regardless because, it's such a damn good game honestly and I just hope it never gets too much to continue work on.

I think what they're saying is that monthly-subscription Patreons can really feel like a drag when the pace of updates drop, regardless of how big those updates are. A monthly fee creates the perception (correct or not) of a continuing service - so even if a game is actively in development, the absence of updates makes it feel like a sink.

This can be an unfair expectation, but it's also unfortunately well-founded in how the vast majority of Patreon-funded game devs just sorta peter out with slower updates and "status reports" over time. Compare that to Patreons that go on a per-work model (more common for webcomics/novels/TTRPG stuff), where updates have incentive to stay consistent because the creator only gets donations when they release content.

Personally, I think all the features you've implemented add a lot to the experience, addressing a lot of the weaknesses of the phone-game genre and of most non-RenPy games we see around here.

Speaking of which, is it me or did you remove the history feature? I liked that one!

I did but I haven't had time to add it back yet now that days can be split between VN/phone mode (which broke the old history viewer)... I think I've got a good idea on how I'd want to add it back though so it should be back in 0.0.10b
