He can only cast a portal TO the island FROM where he is, not the other way around.

It's not just 1 or 2 scenes, he expanded things, added new characters, expanded the role for a couple, set things up for future chapters

The missing Huntress story has been expanded, and will more likely be more than a simple missing person story.

and as for him having portal powers, he can't portal anywhere he wants at the moment, right now he can only portal to A'nai, and from my understanding it's a one-way trip
maybe in the future, if he imbues his essence on other shrines in different kingdoms he'll be able to portal to those and make it a round-trip, basically, you need to go there first the normal way, before you can fast-travel there

yes, it seems that way
that's why it's also one of the reasons, including the stuff I already mentioned, it's recommended to start a new game, because the options you chose are most likely charisma/persuasion based

wow... so let me get this straight... We already had to restart twice if i´m not mistaken (at least once that i remember), had to suffer through the Lust City ripoff arc and when we´re finally done with that, we´re forced to play again because this far into the story the dev decided that it would be a good idea to add stats? What´s next? Sandbox?

maybe add the option to just alter the stats for people that aren´t interested in the slightest in starting from scratch AGAIN. That would´ve been awesome

eh I kind of figured the stats was coming at some point cause of the way Buu talked about things and using RPG's as a inspiration for certain things. i'll have to see how it holds up when I replay the game

A fresh playthrough is STRONGLY recommended in v0.5.9!
As many of you know by being members over on the discord, Nephilim is undergoing a full re-polish of chapter 1-6.

The re-polish features are as follows:
342 entirely new renders and 12 animations added and scattered throughout chapters 1-5.
Thousands upon thousands of new and re-worked dialogues, this includes more in-depth lore and background information, and immersion dialogue.
Countless of old renders have been redone for higher quality and 15+ old animations have been redone from 30 to 60fps with better motion quality as well.

Skill-system revamp:
Now Nephilim feature a more diverse skill system and many choices throughout chapters 1-6 have been adjusted to accommodate this new system.
You will have the option to gain a lot more points throughout the first 6 chapters now, and plenty of skill-check situations have been added as well to make use of these skill points.

The obtainable skills and total points are as follows:
Social skills, Leadership(23), Charisma(22), Persuasion(16) and Intimidation(16).
Physical skills, Strength(2), Wisdom(0) and Stealth(2).

On top of the skill system, the Harem path has now been put to more use, with several scenes now having a bit of unique dialogue depending if you're on or off the Harem path.

Characters:
You will even encounter new characters throughout chapters 1-5 as well now, even returning faces if you have chosen to spare them, giving much needed depth and outcomes of certain choices (Especially Irene & Selena!)
These new & returning characters include... Shane & Maya (Flynn & Sabrina's parents), Irene, Assassins from Society of Shadows, Rin, Gibson, Asta (Gibson's daughter), Alana, Oren & Ellen, Eliza and several others!

As you can see this is an insane amount of content and that is not even taking into consideration the v0.5.9 content itself which is 918 renders ongoing from v0.5.8, that means with the chapter 1-6 re-polish on top, this is easily the largest and most content filled update Nephilim has ever seen, and likely will ever see.
I have done a full replay of chapters 1-6 myself to ensure everything is how I want it to be and flows naturally, and I'm pleased with the result.

Pheew, that was a lot of information, I better get back to work... but before I do, one last piece of information:
in v0.5.9 a fresh playthrough is STRONGLY advised by me, the dev.
I have tested and your v0.5.8 saves should work even if you just want to continue from v0.5.8, however with this amount of new content to the early-mid game, you will be missing out on a lot of skill points and a chunky-chunk of in-game lore and character developments if you do not start fresh, whether you care about those things is up to you as a player.

oh man, i was just playing the update when URM says im not in the "harem path" and i was "wtf" and have zero leadership skills ohh? and see some dialog and new variables along the update. then came to check here and see the patreon changelog above says that a new playthrough its advised. damn, starting fresh will take some time for sure without skipping...
