On top of all the valid points made here for or against Steam, I have to add mine: as an european, I have to get a Tax identification Number from the US to avoid having 30% of my income taken by the IRS (on top of the 30% Steam commission). Which adds a layer to the publication on Steam, on top of all the rules I'd already have to follow to get there (Steam has very strict rules when publishing).

So, yeah, probably more for the 1.0.

I would gladly buy the completed version on steam, even if it's further in the future.

To open a LLC or Corp or Inc. in state of New York (or any other state) cost about 100 USD (200 USD including US bank account and legal services) which autimatically gives you TIN (Tax Identification Number), but 1.0 is a great idea to go to Steam.

Yeah, honestly unless you're very close to release you shouldn't bother yourself with that. It doesn't look like much but adding layers of administration, taxes, and other happy things like that can very very rapidly bog you down like you wouldn't believe.

Good way too fund the second game in addition to patreon once this one is in 1.0 on the other hand.
