To the haters, the Dev's gotta make money somehow. At least his is better than the others. And he's even kinder for just making people wait for only a month before releasing extended versions unlike the rest who'd take 6 months to a year before making a public release that's not even worth it. Not to mention, there's also that one certain dev who can't make up his mind if he'd be sticking with Unity, or doing it with RenPy and has not given any game update for almost a year now.

Try updating your plug ins and JoiPlay I guess. I mean, I also use JoiPlay for this game but don't seem to encounter that type of problem. Except for the usual couch scenes with Marjorie whenever I try to skip too much (I'm guessing it's the same for the others). Other than that, all is good for me.

I am on the latest public version from their patreon on both the app and the plugin so it's not that. Maybe it's coz I am on Android 14 or something like that?

Could be, but your phone is more up to date than mine though. Black Shark 5 is only on Android 12 but it's working fine for me so far.
