I can't say how much story the "prostitute" LIs have because I've always disregarded them. Regarding Chika's past... well, the truth is that since I can ignore it, that's what I'm doing.

That is an understandable and mature way to go about this. I wish more people did that.

It's wild how a lot of devs who say No NTR, don't take into account that people view things like prostitution in the same line as NTR.

It's wild how a lot of people think their own personal view on what constitutes what has any relevance whatsoever. There is countless different views on what is the 3 letter term and what not. If you don't want to see a LI get fucked or even read about a hint at that happening just don't go down her route. If the game doesn't offer that, leave. Not every game has to cater to every taste.

I don't even like it much myself but I totally want this part of the game to stay that way just so that it's not the exact same thing as so many other backstories. So kinda agree with FutabaSakura8. Not everything has to be dialed down as to not offend anyone. And this game does give you options.

I'll be honest, I don't know what his plan for Chika is either. However, I took his post to mean that she still hasn't sold her body. It would be a bit too much if she ends up being a prostitute, as her backstory implies it wasn't a voluntary decision. Forced prostitution seems like a bit much for me and it would also make her past far more tragic than that of other characters like Miharu or Ayase.

That said, we may just be overreacting, with what he wrote I'm giving him a vote of confidence and wait to see what he has planned.

The thing is, if you bother to talk to her and don't just go to sleep like I did, she literally tells you: "People pay me to have sex." So, she already sold her body, and by all appearances, she continues to do so. Now, how the developer will manage to convince us that she's not a prostitute is a bigger mystery than the one of Fatima.

And the truth is, anyone who follows that path has already shown that they don't care that she's a prostitute, so what need does Dev have to change that? I suspect none, but apparently he's willing to do it to prove something—what exactly? Well, I'm not sure.

I would assume she lied to the MC in an attempt to push him away. Her whole character, in what has been released so far (up to the end of 0.3), has been about pushing people away until/unless her situation is otherwise hopeless. As of the end of 0.3, MC has given her very little reason to see past her own rough past, just as others don't yet trust him. Those who have reason to trust him have had him earn it (albeit in the usual fictional-story-enhanced-rapid manner and pace).

Then I started to realize that such a backstory is a much needed breath of fresh air considering how many backstories are similar across games.

Far too many devs/authors write basic backstories, or they fail to use backstories to justify why characters act like they do. Everyone has a story. Everyone has a past. We, individually, aren't actually in the story, so there's no stake/risk in exploring it. Given that the design of New Horizon appears to be as much about exploring the past as it is about people growing together, and particularly given the 'harem' tag, I'd suggest that the story would be poorer for those who skip out on her content.

If people can't get past the discomfort of going through her story with her, that's their choice, and there's no reason anyone should hold it against them. Though, on the same note, there's no reason for them to keep bringing it up unless they're looking for people to hold it against them (either long term, or short term in discussion pushing back against them). Maybe that's their kink, but this is the sum of my weighing in on this.

yeah I mean if that was the plan from the start , the dev should of shown the player she was lying somehow and not the MC. Otherwise it comes across as the dev changing things. At least in my opinion.

yeah I mean if that was the plan from the start , the dev should of shown the player she was lying somehow and not the MC. Otherwise it comes across as the dev changing things. At least in my opinion.

In my opinion, the plan was for her to be a prostitute so that the MC could rescue her from that life. Everything seemed perfect, except for those who had no intention of rescuing her.

It's possible he doesn't even know exactly what he meant by that. It seems to be a way of trying to get people to follow her path without really committing to anything, and subtly leaving the door open to change things as he sees fit. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, except for the fact that he wants to give the impression that everything was meticulously planned from the very beginning.

I was so dead set on finishing rendering a very big section of the story, but it was simply too much work that it really took me a whole month just to finish that part. If you know me, I get very fixate on finish a particular thing, and that's kind of a problem sometimes.

The good news is, I got that part finished. The bad news is, there are still a few more parts that I have yet to finish. So I won't be able to finish 0.4 in October like I estimated before. There's just simply too much content for this update, and I want to make it well.

Also, I have a 10-day vacation coming up in a few days, so I won't be able to work on the game for 10 days. My original plan was to get the update finished before I go on the vacation but I couldn't get it done on time, unfortunately.

To the dev that says we don't understand the tags, most people who avoid these tags know full well what they mean otherwise they wound not hate on them so much. its telling that you are trying to frame it this way to avoid the backlash for as long as possible.
Above all this not every girl in a story needs to be a virgin (pls refer to the MILF tag as a examples) most of us just dont want Li's to whore themself out.
