Thanks for the advice. For what it's worth I did three AV scans (AVG, Bitdefender, and Malwarebytes) including the Malwarebytes rootkit scanner. None of them found anything. Windows gives me alarm fatigue but it's a good reminder to be careful; I check this game so infrequently I kinda' forget to be suspicious.

so anyone can check to see if there are any unsavory programs on their computers after downloading 8.5 themselves.I don't claim that 8.5 is totally malware/virus-free, but I just wanted to say essentially that I've seen a similar conversation like this play out in the past on this forum about the possibility of false alerts by relatively unknown antivirus programs. It would be unfortunate for people to deprive themselves from playing a newer update (as scant as the updates are) of the game for a seemingly low likelihood that it has malware/viruses. But, by laying out what I've seen before and pointing out that most of the detections are by lesser known programs, I hope people can make a more educated choice on whether to download it or not.
For me, I downloaded 8.5 on January 4. It's been 11 days and my computer is still fine. I've logged into my bank account and my money is still there. None of my online passwords have been reset by another party. Maybe, if there is a trojan horse, it's playing the long game. I'll let you all know if something like that eventually happens -- even if it's months from now.

Where did you download the game from? If from MixDrop, Firefox warns you no matter what the file is. Our browser just thinks that MixDrop (and everything hosted on it) is sus.
Try another server, such as Mega, and Firefox will roll out the red carpet for the same, identical file.

Huh. Thought I'd grabbed stuff from MixDrop before but maybe not then, still the first time I've ever bumped into that, I've had Malwarebytes throw hissy fits about MegaUp plenty of times tho even when the files are fine
Regardless people shouldn't exactly give my post any weight one way or another, as I said I wasn't willing to bother to look into it for more then a few seconds because I know that's as much time as the game is worth lol

Basically you need to interact with them enough for them to either like you enough to be a friend/you want to be their friend, if your here, then using the "hug box" cheat at character creation should make it so you can immediately friend them

Once you have the "like" stat up enough for the character, you choose the weekend activity "make a new friend" and you can pick from a list of people with the appropriate stat level to be friends with.

I was thinking about the game yesterday. As someone who played this game when it was barely a year old, it used to be a Patreon, and I would eagerly wait for each new update; I have since only played the game maybe once or twice a year to see the new content. While the previous dozen+ updates have been a bit underwhelming, especially the lesbian ones, the new landlord updates are pretty hot, especially the potential for SO to have your lesbian partner in a threesome (maybe depending on her personality, you can force her to get fucked instead of yourself by the landlord or vice-versa if she is more dominant).
Other than that, I don't know what other fetishes SO can add in other than more unique scenes with the existing content, especially if they keep saying their home country of the UK legally prohibits certain content, so more extreme fetishes can't be added in that's why things like non-consent will have to be modded in. I would love to see more extreme content like (with opt-out, of course) incest (your (step)brother/sister/mother/father decides to visit and stay with you after finding out you got turned into a woman and things could escalate from there with random events. Hell, even if your character is a male start whose original age is thirty+, you can run into your (step)son/daughter from your past life like Clean Slate did.

SO needs to consider open the code base to others or better supporting modding then. The new scenes can be swapped for different versions, but allowing modders to actually have the code call their scenes from an arbitrary list like they've been asking would be way better for the overall project than whatever minimal features SO is able to add at this point.
I also used to support this development, but SO is really slow and stubborn.

Like take your office rival, either she could try to hook up with (or even marry) your father or you could do the same to her. Boss having a son or daughter you could seduce. Or if you're having a affair with the boss you could meet his wife & son/daughter during a office party & either play nice, be subtly bitchy or straight up say you're the mistress. Brother or father trying to hook up with your friends, depending on their traits they'd flirt with them right in front of you. A jerk friend variation where he's your brother's or father's friend or sister's boyfriend. Characters having surnames, so a traditional partner would refuse to marry you if you didn't take his name, etc.

Yeah I wish modders got the source code so they can mod in scenes that SO can't or is unwilling to add in. Having them show up organically in a play through is more satisfying than to have to trigger them yourself with a command.
Does anybody know, how to enable the “UNDER_THRALL_OF_EVIL_HYPNO” flag in v0.85? I tried to edit the flags in relationship in save file, however it doesn't work
