Unity - Completed - Night Of Revenge [v1.0.7] [D-Lis]

Stop reading reviews and just get the game. As of posting this it is MTL so if that bothers you, wait for the official translation. Otherwise, this is one of the adult games I've ever played, if not THE best. It's a dark souls side scroller with porn. The animations are just unparalleled, I've never seen boobies bounce this fluidly in a cartoony game before. Get it and you won't regret it, in fact, buy it to support the dev. He/they are a treasure.

To put it frankly; You love Souls-likes? Well, it's not that simple of an answer, but despite how janky the menu is for first impressions (which isn't entirely the dev's fault, Unity engine can be effy), how stiff movements are and how jarring the platforming is at times. The game is surprisingly fun and gets better the more you play it that I think you'd be willing to overlook all that if you give it a chance, at least I did.
Gameplay-wise, it is down to the tea an action RPG souls-like, but a 2D eroge; Kill enemies and bosses while not getting killed/raped so you won't lose exp/(ideas?) if you choose harder difficulties. Same applies to stats, as they affect weapons and spells (aside from the obvious HP, MP and SP). There's a good weapon variety too, all be it many are very similar moveset-wise. Another thing to mention is that you need karma (which you get by rescuing ladies) to get through events. That was never a hassle to me personally as someone that scours every nook and cranny of a level.

The art direction considering it's a solo-project is very nice. There's a substantial amount of CGs, which are fully animated and integrated in the gameplay (some can't even be found in the gallery as far as I know in 1.0.5, I hope that is somewhat touched on). Some of the levels are very basic and straight to the point when it comes to its inspirations, but some are honestly very pretty, especially a personal favorite of mine is the Forest of Eternal Rest (I wish the game embraced more of that atmosphere more, the dark gothic style of world building is very neat). The weapon designs are decent too, although the lack of costumes is a bit disappointing considering additional looks to Aradia were shown in events but never became costumes, but oh well.

Sound design is simple souls shtick, ain't jarring though, does the job. The music is not memorable yet still great for what D-lis does with it, although it isn't as prevalent throughout the game.

Performance-wise it still runs as smooth as butter even on my toaster laptop, so yeah. All be it there are many bugs as far as I am aware, though I only faced two annoying ones in my 16 hours second playthrough in this version, which aren't game-breaking but sure as hell are annoying. The game just released not long ago, so I reckon they will probably be fixed.

I can't say much about the story as it's MTL and half of the dialogues make no sense, but the finale twist is very neat and the just of Aradia is "tragic MC on a journey for REVENGE" with a sprinkle of witch-hunt and eroge bliss.

To conclude; I haven't had this much fun with an eroge game for a long time, so much so that I made an account just to review it. Been lurking and following its development for years too. Despite its weaknesses, I think the content there more than makes up for 'em, so I can't bring myself but to praise and "THUMBS UP" this game. Lately many amazing eroges are in development and I hope we see even more like Night of Revenge in the future.

Great all around-- One of the greatest.
Animations are great, VA is great, story is mid, gallery is mid/low, developer is friendly.
Took over 3 years to make, but can't complain at all-- the end justifies it.

- The gameplay is really great for a H-game,
- The H-scene is... decent? (I'm here for the gameplay.)
- Main story is decent for dark fantasy esque settings.
- Side lore is pretty great, if we can get decent translation that is.

- Lacking of side content
- Karma point is underused.

honestly this game has not changed a lot

i played it first in 2020 and that was the last time until now

and i have to say i was never hyped and it proved to be right to not be hyped

there is "barely" any new content

just a few animations more

the last boss was the easiest one in the whole game imo

but honestly this is a true real hentai game unlike the other shitty games such as VN's aka hold down ctlr and skip the "game""" sorry meant CG's with text which can be found without text in the games folder called images or img

this game is still not good as anthophobia in my opinion as anthophobia has better stuff overall and isnt THIS short (i do speedrun games) the bugs from previous versions like 0.50 are still here and not fixed

this dev took years just to make a game that overhyped people for no great reason

sure if this is the first time you play this its gonna be all new and nice but for me this game gets a 3.4/5

i will wait and wish for a new game similar to this or anthophobia at best because content is content when theres quite a bit of it

a good example is parasite in city

that game is a 2.5/5 from me because it lacks the content

also almost forgot to mention the censoring in this game

its so annoying even for a japanese woman myself who doesnt usually care about censors if theyre just tiny black lines or something

so anyway this *should* be my review for this game

I already wrote a review in Dlsite so I'ma keep it a buck 50 here. The game is the best game on this website period. The only game that comes remotely close to it's innovation is Karryn's prison, but this game is way above it. 5/5, nothing more to say, please buy the full version to credit the dev, the game has so much content and deserves it.

One of the best side-scrollers you can get. The only thing that I think missing is MORE CONTENT. Hoping for DLC tho!!

This has been one of my favorite side scroller fighter games. Follow them through Ci-EN and have this wishlisted on DL-Site to support them when release. Wish that there were more games like this though. Played DI-LIS old game and some others from other peeps but not as great as this artist. Grimhelm has that similarity but in my opinion does not beet this person. XD

It's a really fun game with a pretty good control system. Outstanding graphics especially for a platformer. So far it has a nice variation of enemies and traps. So far the only ways to get H is via battle lose or if you lose your health you can get an end credit scene. All of which is really outstanding. There is also a gallery and a play as the enemy option where the MC is captured. All in all, this is a really fun game and I hope it will continue to be further developed and translated. Definitely worth checking it out if you like platformers.
Version 0.54

The game is great in background design and ambient sound design. The first few areas have distinct Bloodborne-esque characteristics.

Combat is satisfactory but using certain weapons mid-air seem to glitch the character model and it stops working until she either dies or an enemy does a strike.

Boss battles are overall good but has room for some improvements. Such as;
Some areas of the game can sometimes lag the overall game entirely such as the lab area, which in turn make the boss battle there incredibly difficult for me.

The levelling system in my opinion is a tad bit too grindy. But it's as expected in a Bloodborne-esque game.

8/10, would recommend.

Ah yes the defacto adult Metroidvania game.

Pros:
+Good art and incredible music. (Seriously the music is so fucking good)
+Great animations.
+-Gameplay is quite challenging until you learn how to dash. (it makes you fucking invincible)
+Protag looks awesome and enemies look cool and unique if not disturbing.
+Can equip different weapons and have different loadouts
+Good atmosphere

Cons:
-Lack of lore and story.
-You need to use a translation program to play it in English and even then the text is barely understandable..
-Updates take too long.

I'm willing to give it another go when the game gets fully released.

As far as as H platformers go, this one's fantastic. I find some hentai games to be too hard and end up downloading saves to see the content, but this one is pretty manageable I think. Gameplay functions as it should and I don't think I ever encountered a bug. When it comes to the sex this game really shines, if you like seeing a beautiful girl having sex (unwillingly in this one) with horrible creatures/cruel humans, you'll be in for a ride. My only complaint is that you can't or at least I haven't found a way to switch or lock the animation in the gallery, but overall that is an insignificant complaint when you consider everything else in this game. Oh and you can toggle gore on and off thankfully. Fully recommend

This game is fucking nice! I can't wait for it to be a full game. The only downfalls would be that it is a bit too quiet before a boss fight but at the same time it is great with only ambience sounds (it adds to the creepiness and juiciness xp). The other downfall would be the bar scene... Personally, i would've added a "level up requirement" to escape or fight because it kinda threw me off when it happened. Besides that scene, everything was perfect , i really loved the 0.54 version. And i hope they will add more length to it ,also add more awesome bosses. It would be cool if they could add a real English translation because ,story wise, i understood fuck all xD

This is where SiNiSistar could have been. The smooth gameplay, the difficulties, the various sex situations, the gore on/off setting. They could have been stood shoulder to each other in the same genre and setting.

Number 1 game I played here. I don't think anything comes close. Killing is satisfying, getting defeated feels good, unlocking a new area just amplifies the awesomeness of the nightmare.

The monsters are varied and so seem to be the weapons, but, apart from coolness, I couldn't see anything special to set the weapons apart -- that changed in the last version.

The maps are increasingly complicated and quite beautiful. There is a great nightmare atmosphere, which would be helped a lot by more music. So far, I've only heard music in the Parish Church (first location). That music was quite good, and suitable for the mood of the game.

I played v0.54 uncensored and it was a great ride. I kept praying it won't end, but it did, and that's the number one negative. There might be other minor issues with the game freezing when one uses both the keyboard and the mouse to navigate the menus. Another issue I found was that the spells were not fast enough or precise enough to do damage to some enemies.

Edit v1.07. There isn't that much new in terms of maps. The story is tied, there are new journals, new NPCs, the witch, new weapons. There is new H-content, and the community here worked hard on uncensoring most of it.

My favorite weapon is the one you get after killing the big mermaid boss. It's excellent in terms of revenge recovery and damage dealt to most enemies. Another nice weapon is the blue spiked club you can buy from the witch. In terms of beauty, and damage, the nicest weapon is Candore's sword.

The only thing I have a problem with is the nihilistic ending.

Amazing game if you are into non-con. Decent gameplay too. Thankfully it has the option to turn off more violent scenes if that's not your thing. The platforming can be a bit wonky sometimes but it's far from being terrible. A lot of work was put into this and there is a lot of content, which is nice for a change of pace from all those shorter hentai games.

S+ game even without the smut and generally a well made game that immerses you. Last time I played was around 0.30 ish and iirc it was pretty hard to go a mage build however I speculate that during the patches from 0.30 to 0.52 that some sort of mage build has emerged for all the melee haters.


tldr, great game with nice immersiveness and would be great regardless if it did not contain any smut.

played trough it on hardest difficulty and didnt feel the need to upgrade my weapons at all, some of which are a bit too forgiving in terms of almost no animation locks after swings
sex anis were pretty sick including the traps and nightmare cg's were awesome
going to kick a few bucks to the author now, totally worth it

Here we see a true masterpiece. The H stuff is amazing, some of them play over 3 minutes. MC gorgeous, smooth and overall nice developed. Sound is really good too. Even it is under development, it is already nominate as a best action scroller that even existed. Looking forward for more upd. Never expected that action game created via UNITY can be that incredibly animated. Try it, you wont regret.
