Hey guys! I'm back from what was still a very "productive" time off
Thanks for hanging in there! This break was very helpful to refill energy and inspiration. We also spent some amazing time with Lady Ninja on the beautiful Caribbean beaches (shout out to any/all Mexicans among you, thanks for having us in your beautiful country)
But even when lying on a white sand beach, I'm always cooking something And I just wanted to share with you some of that and some news in this post.
You might remember I mentioned that I wanted to create something very special for Legacy of Darkness' cover art, but I was slowly moving forward with that during my months off. Well, here are some small teaser images. I've been working on some Star Wars traditional pencil drawings with the intention of fusing them into a single image that I will then color digitally. Aiming to achieve a style closer to what classic posters of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, etc, have. Not just the "traditional art" look, but I also want the final composition to resemble those of the actual Star Wars posters, where several characters are presented in various poses, making a cohesive and engaging collage. I know it must be very hard to visualize what the final product is gonna look like from just these initial pics, since they don't even represent 25% of what the whole thing is gonna be, but I thought it would be best to make you guys participants in the whole creative process as it gradually takes shape. The images in the making here are pretty much done now (at least the pencil part), and I started with one of Leia, too. But there will be more characters in it, including, of course, the main character of the story, Rey. It's a lot of work, but I have a feeling the final image will look great and different from anything I've done before. It is also a way to challenge myself to go out of my comfort zone and explore different media in search of different results.
I also seized the chance to write some of the next pages of LoD story during last month's break so I could now dive into the pics right away!
On a separate note, I've also received news from the printer who sent me some images and a video of the books' printed pages! They are currently still in the process of binding them and should be ready by sometime next week (according to the printer). I'm very excited to see the final products!
