I understand your point but in this type of games you're basically forced to.I do find it kinda ironic that in a game titled "no more secrets" about a guy tired of people keeping said secrets .... he has more than all of them combined.
Also, he's a massive douche when you think about it.
Brandy, the good girl of the school. She clearly has feelings for him yet he's stringing her along like the rest of the girls.
Steph. She's in a bad place and the guy gave her a shoulder to cry on so much so that she developed feelings for him yet she's another one he's stringing along.
Vane went through all that shit yet she's another girl who's emotions he's playing with.
He's trying it on with his own mother, sister and cousin.
His old friend and dealer also has a thing for him and is best friends with the school good girl yet it's another girl he's playing around with.
On top of that he's getting it on with one of his teachers.
On top of that he's fucking around with a stripper/teacher.
I think he's in for a bad time once all his secrets come out.
If you (the dev) force the player to pick a girl early on and stick with her to achieve the happy ending, you're both limiting the amount of content the players see each update and you're forcing them to have multiple play-through. I'm sure 80%+ of the players won't bother making a second/parallel play-through and as a dev you want them to see as much content as possible, so the updates seem bigger.
Some game (ie: Acting Lesson, probably Becoming a Rockstar) punish the player if you stray from the chosen girl, which is both realistic and just, but in my opinion is bad UX (User eXperience) since you're forcing them to start all over when their fault was trying to view as much content as possible.
