How are you supposed to unzip these? The naive way (downloading and unzipping) creates errors. Are they specail files since they don't have a .zip extension?

You unzip it slowly so you don't get the tip caught in the zipper.

Have you tried with 7zip?
You put all three files in the same folder and unzip just the first one. .002 and 003 will be unpacked automatically when doing that.
