I chose Unity because I have extensive experience building a custom 'visual novel engine' on top of it. In my experience, while Ren'Py is designed for visual novels, it has some limitations—it can be surprisingly time-consuming to work with and somewhat sluggish, especially when it comes to tasks like animating. I’m aware that the current control scheme of the game feels a bit unconventional and that the UI isn’t as polished as it could be, but these issues are on my list and will be addressed.Unity has its place for sure just not visual novels. I assume the person making this already has some knowledge in unity hence why its a unity game.
Otherwise dunno I have dabbled around a bit in renpy myself and even as a person with 0 prior coding knowledge I got a VERY basic game up and running in just a few hours. So its very easy to pick renpy up.
The custom engine will make me faster and will also make it way easier when I get more people working on the game.
