It feels as if it doesn't work out or isn't received well, its like you are just giving up on her, from this type of statement, is how it feels.
You're confusing two very different things IMO. Giving up would be abandoning Ava if she's not well-received or if dev felt their writing is sub-par. In reality, what happened is simply the dev giving their best in writing Ava's story and is fully aware that players might have mixed reaction toward the character. Dev continues to write Ava as per their vision of what her character is. There is no "giving up" from the dev's side at all.

I believe in your writing skills. You've done well with what you've done so far. How much a character is liked/disliked is purely based on personal preference anyway. As long as the player isn't one of those people with the "main character syndrome" IRL thinking that everything revolves around them, they should be fully aware that it's fine to not love every single character.
