Hello everyone, I want to ask about Alice. Is there any chance to get close to her yet? I just finished the 3rd chapter and got nothing. Maybe I did something wrong and need to replay? What do you think?
Alice is the slowest burn of all the LIs, it'll be a while before anything major happens with her. You've not missed anything particularly important so far, though any early choices with her mostly influence her points score, which will be relevant later on as to whether she likes you, so you'll want to bear that in mind.

I appreciate your response. Based on my understanding thus far, there were only a few options that appeared to be connected to her, and all of these were exclusively in the first chapter (though I could be mistaken): one during the drinking game when you opted for truth and stated that Alice is the most attractive, and the other at the party when her roommate Rachel inquired about whom I wished to see more at the event, to which I replied Alice. I am not particularly aware of any additional opportunities to earn points with her. Regarding the slowest burn, I have no objections to that, as the other love interests have not captured my attention; perhaps Ellie slightly, but nothing in comparison to Alice. I think she is worth the wait.
Although there is one interesting detail: when the third chapter begins and the main character writes a letter to his parents and friend, he mentions Alice and expresses a desire to get to know her better. Could this be a sign that I'm on the right path now?

There's a few more spots, but they're options I imagine most people picking by default anyway on a blind playthrough. In ch1, being friendly with Nathan gives you +1 point, as does telling you truth later in that scene (about drinking). Picking truth when Alice asks you also gives +1.

In ch2, deciding to do the photo task yourself leads you to a scene with Rachael and Alice, apologizing to Alice after you walk in on her gives you +1.

Then in ch3 inviting her and Rachael to your table in the library doesn't give you any bonus points, but gives you an extra conversational scene involving her and also will influence future interactions.

Interestingly, Ellie is probably the second slowest burn, so it seems you've got a type in that regard.

You are entirely correct in that aspect. I am attracted to this kind of girl who is not slutty or easy, who is inexperienced and may even be a virgin. It is even more appealing if the love interest is a virgin; at times, I even forgo the AVN if the author does not feature virgins in the list of love interests. P.S.: Additionally, I have a strong aversion to developers who prefer to use dildos to break hymens prior to the initial sex scene in order to prevent pain and bleeding. It is quite frustrating for me when a defloration scene resembles that of a non-virgin, especially when there are no clear indicators to differentiate them.

Regarding the choices, which I was previously unaware would earn points with Alice, I believe I made most of them correctly. I maintained a friendly demeanor with Nathan; I was honest about the drinking issue in the main character's family. I opted for the truth when Alice inquired; I expressed my apologies for walking in on her and invited both Rachel and her to join me at my table in the library. Thus far, I believe everything is going well.

Yep, you should be good then. For all the main LIs it should be fairly simple to get on and stay on their paths, I've tried to make things as intuitive and natural as possible. But generally it's as simple as be nice and pay more attention to the girl you're interested in, and you should be good, for the most part.

can i ask, do you have a rough idea how many chapters would Not Going Back have?
copy pasting this answer from earlier in the thread bc i realized i was basically rewriting the answer anyway, so i went to check what i wrote before and it's the best explanation

Without spoiling anything, there's going to be 11 chapters, technically. And 11 different updates. But they're not the same. The next update is a prelude to chapter 4 before the full ch4 itself at a later point. Hard to explain it clearly without completely outlining certain plans I have. Suffice to say I'm not going to be sticking to a traditional release structure, or structure generally, for updates and chapters. Everything's intrinsic to the narrative, even extracurricular stuff like releases themselves. It's fascinating to me to see what little things people are going to pick up on.
But yeah, to answer your question in an actually helpful way, there's going to be 11 updates. We're 3/11 right now. (now about to be 4/11)
