VN Ren'Py Not Going Back [Ch.4] [Cicada]

A harem wouldn't fit this game.
It would suck the fun out of it.
It's realistic to see the girls getting jealous or even competing for the MC.

You can have the MC explore during college with multiple girls or dedicate to one romantically.
I like the choice.

A harem would be a cheap fake-feeling easy-way-out to have everyone compromise for a co-operative ending.

Harem games are only fun when the MC is conquering one by one, but when he has all the LIs, it becomes boring, repetitive, corny, with LIs being mindless MC worshippers.

I prefer games like this where you can play the field and not commit, until you finally make your choice.

Kind of odd, seeing a title called "Not Going Back" with multi love interests and no harem path. So MC (the player) has to keep (not) going back in order to experience the any of other love interest paths.

If this had a harem path, the title would then fit with "not going back".

Well, that's why games have saves. You save at a key point so you can
try another LI. The problem with harem games{for me anyway} is that
there's no real effort needed.....all the LI's are yours with little or no effort
to get them. It becomes kinda boring....in my humble opinion.

Decent game that's managed to hold my attention, but fuck me does it need animations.
It needs them to elevate it from being only decent to good/great.

I agree, I'd love to be able to add animations at some point. I would most likely have to commission someone to make them for me though, I have played around with it but it'd be very time-consuming, both to set up and to render.

I prefer more consistent updates, rather than once a year or longer updates.
Lots of VNs have crappy animations and are better off without them.

The rare games that do have quality animations take forever to update.

This game's strengths are that it's a fun college story, you get to make choices, the choices actually matter with consequences and tension, it's well-written and dialogue is digestible and fun, and that updates are fairly consistent.

I'd prefer many VNs cut animations down or axe them completely with the time they add to the development process.

I also agree with this. I think the majority of animations in games aren't that good, particularly relative to how long they take to make. So I'd rather forgo them completely for now, it'd be an unnecessary time sink for me.

Thank you, I'm very glad you enjoyed the update, particularly the big you mentioned there, I'm very glad it's been received well in the feedback I've gotten so far.

Part of the subject choice is linked to LIs, but it's all optional side girl stuff, you won't miss out on main LI content based on the choice you make there. It'll just influence a couple extra side girl choices here and there if you share a class with them. I can elaborate further on which side girls specifically I've got planned for each class, but it's not 100% set in stone quite yet, I've mentioned that side girl content is the one part of the story I've not got completely nailed down, as I wanted to give a little room for switching things up if I need to.

Also I've just noticed that the update's listed as Chapter 4 here and few other places (GameStoryLog for instance), so for clarity's sake that's not actually true, Chapter 4 (The Party) will be the next update. This was a specifically a Prelude to Chapter 4 to bridge the gap between ch3 and ch4, just in case anyone is confused in the next dev cycle when I talk about starting work on ch4. It'll build on the end point of the Prelude to be the complete ch4. Not a big problem but just wanted to inform people in case you get confused.
