VN - Ren'Py - Nothing Is Forever [v0.7.3] [MrSilverLust]

The writing and visuals for this game keeps getting better and better. The visuals were initially quite rough and I'm still not a fan of the thick black lines (I assume they are supposed to represent a stylistic interpretation of shadows) but they have been improving.

I'm not into many of the kinks (dev has a clever way of avoiding them fortunately or I probably wouldn't be playing the game anymore) but the writing is what makes this game great IMO. Some of the conversations and situations with Emma, Jen, Lea and Kim actually have me laughing out loud, smiling ear to ear or thinking 'fuck she's/that's awesome!'. The game also gets a bit emotional at times and you become invested in the characters. Some of the relationships are dysfunctional, but contain exploration, learning, growth and development. They are even sweet/thoughtful at times.

So far the game seems to be written for an intellectual audience and is a breath of fresh air compared with some of the mouth-breathing drivel that is out there. I sincerely hope it doesn't get dumbed down for a broader audience in the future. The only thing I don't like about the writing so far is the nagging, overly 'vocal' conscience of the MC/PC. I get it, I do, but it's too much and get's annoying at times. I don't find it enjoyable...if I wanted to get nagged I'd talk to my wife.

Overall a highly enjoyable game and highly recommended.

I am once again thanking another developer from here for introducing me to another nice obscure punk artist's material that they happened to use as the main tune for their VN. It's actually becoming embarassing the ammount of music I am discovering here out of all places...

It's clear that the team behind this put big effort in the game as well, it's shows in the quality. I honestly believe this is one of those gems that shine above what's honestly a sea of mediocre rubbish in this website.

The kink personality point system is really ingenious and the characters are actually fleshed out, with distinct personalities, worries and ambitions. The story also touches psychology and the deeps struggles that happen inside oneself, depression and the like and handles it surprisingly well. All of this sets an atmosphere that's hard to come by in adult VNs, yknow: a believable setting instead of porno-land logic ruling the story. An actuall full on adult game, not just smut, but an actual mature adult story, where your actions have consequences beyond of simply "who you fuck" and "how you do it".

To each their own ofc, I am not oblivious for what this website is for, but it's for the very same reason that it cannot be understated when a adult VN like this one shines so fucking much , the dev talks about delivering a grounded story and I say he succeeds.

Ah well, when something's done well and with heart, I'm easy to please, so I give 5 stars and can't wait for what the dev is bring to the table next

A good story based visual novel with some unique gameplay mechanics.

98% of the game is story with 2% being adult content. It is a slow burn and very verbose game. The game is literally like reading a paperback novel. No attempt is made to summarize things and keep the plot moving. The characters just won't shut their mouths.

Only a few of the sex scenes are animated. The first sex scene you'll encounter in the game is with Emma which is animated and then most of the following sex scenes just use pictures. Teasing animations and then pulling the rug out from underneath the player was a poor decision IMO.

Most of the sex scenes in the game are short and lackluster. I thought that only three sex scenes were done well - two with Emma and one with Lea. The story is the emphasis with the game and the sex scenes seem to be an afterthought. The player has to go through pages and pages of dialog to get to the sex scenes and then the majority of them are disappointing!

Most of the character models have these weird black lines on them. The black lines are mostly in the character's outline and shadow regions. It was quite distracting to be honest. The breasts aren't drawn well on the female character models. The renders seems to be low resolution which results in grainy skin too often. The faces on the character models are good and detailed and then the bodies are the opposite.

I do like the unique skill system used in the game but it is often too restrictive unless the player enables easy mode.

The game is designed so that you have to play through it multiple times in order to see all scenes (by making different choices and choosing different skills). No way in HELL am I going to play through this game a second or third time! After chapter 2, the verbose dialog and slow story progression were too annoying.

Overall, the writing is excellent and the story is solid!

There are plenty of English mistakes throughout the game, however most of them are minor.

Lea constantly blue balls the player to the point of frustration. Every time things start getting spicy, Lea says that she needs to leave. Groundhog day over and over again with Lea.

Brilliant dialog and banter between the MC and Emma!

There are some choices throughout the game but most of them just change the dialog and if a scene is enabled or disabled.

If you choose the wrong alcoholic drink, some scenes with Deb are disabled later. I was very disappointed with this gameplay decision.

The hottest girl in the game IMO is Olivia and she is mostly off limits until the end of chapter 6. I only found one scene with her.

The story is good but some of the choices that the MC makes pulled me out of immersion. Some of the story elements don't match the direction and choices that I would have made. This is normal with most games but this was especially the case with this one.

If you love reading and a good story, then I recommend this game. If you are here for the adult content then I would look elsewhere. All the reading you have to do to get to the sex scenes isn't worth it IMO. The sex scenes are then rushed and most of them lack animation.

In summary, a long verbose story with a little bit of adult content thrown in. As a novel, the game succeeds in spades. As an adult title, it fails miserably.

This game is just... wow. I was a bit sceptic seeing just the overview pics etc. The renders may not seem the best and the setup seems the classic generic.

Well I was completely wrong. The dev knows what makes porn games hot. Its not just you meet a girl and in 2 minutes you are fucking. Just lifeless slabs of meat without any real feeling.

Here scenes with each girl are a culmination of all the interactions you had. I cannot stress how well done this is. Each scene is beyond words good and that is coming from someone who played way too many of these games and became a bit dulled by them.

Just play this game. The kink system the game has is also amazing. You unlock sex skills depending on your preference. You want to be dominant? We got you. You want to be submissive? We got you again.

Again, I cannot get over how good the scenes are. Just some simple acts of exhibitionism have a great impact. It all comes down to how well paced and written it is.

This ended up being too much of a wall of text so just... give this game a try. You will see that it has more thought and work put into it than almost every other game here.

Stumbled upon this amazing VN while playing from the list of games I've been putting on hold for a while. Got to say this is one of the best grounded VNs out there that focuses a lot of internal struggles and what motivate people to do things. I really loved how developed the psychology parts were and how immersive it felt. Also the chess parts were also a standout, these 2 things were something that make Nothing is Forever stand out.

Graphic: the art style is beautiful, at first it felt a little bit hard to get used to but after a while it grew on me. The animations are lacking but I did not feel their absence.

Story:It's not something grandiose just a MC that has fallen out due to some unethical decisions regarding his profession and slowly getting himself out of the pit he put himself in while trying to avoid making the same mistakes. It is not something spectacular but having a more grounded one is a breath of fresh air. Mostly it's not black and white focusing more on character development and their internal struggles to make the decisions they think they are right

Characters: this is the first category where the game shines the most, each one of the LIs coming with their own distinct personality and kinks which you slowly discover through the 6 chapters. Now not every LI is fully fleshed out some having less involvement than the other others being mostly absent if your kinks don't align with theirs, but most of the times there are plenty of content for each main MC side Sub/Dom. My favorites from the get go remain Emma for her fiery attitude, Lea, Olivia, the chess player (I loved how you can maintain a strictly professional relationship and still never feel like it's out of place), even Kim for as much as how despicable she is, she is very intriguing to follow. The males characters are also fleshed out compared to other games and finally due the the more realistic and grounded approach the world feels more alive having others just living with you, them having their own relationships and problems, also giving them life and not just being there for the sake of it.

Dialogue: is the other category where the game stands out from most of the VNs. There is actually a character development carried by the dialogue, for some it may be overwhelming how much they talk to each other, especially how much internal monologue seems to happen but for me it was not an issue. I enjoyed every bit of dialogue, maybe a little too much considering how much I spent in one go to read simply because it was so engaging.

Music: the bits of looped songs fit well in their perspective scenes but due to the huge amount of dialogue between the characters and how long it takes for scenes to switch made the music very repetitive, but that does not mean it is bad.

Choices: I like the skill based system where you put points depending on your kinks slowly unlocking and improving the relationship with other LIs, also it seems like you need more than 3 saves to see most of the dialogue and scenes variations which helps a lot with replayability.

Final Impressions:For my first go I maintained a strictly professional relationship with the patients but still it never felt that I was missing something. Will have to try again for a more unethical route but I cannot wait to see how different things are. I'm so invested in this and honestly it was a great surprise how good this game was. There are more things to say about it but it is enough for now. Kudos to the dev for making this lovely gem.

The game could be a GOAT. The writing is good if not a bit too wordy and I enjoy the mechanics of the game, but it is let down badly by the quality of the art and sex scenes, which have a huge build up and no real pay off, so disappointing.

This is the best game on this site . I think it is perfect literally. There are paths interactions skills , kinks you can explore, interesting characters and they actually have a fucking personality. Like this is as best as they come. I have never seen a game as good as this lol

Easily one of the best adult games out there.
The script is clever (seriously; it's totally diferent from the edgy or juvenile stuff the "industry" generally give to degenerates like us), the MC pretty much relatable, and the pace is on point.
And believe me, I'm not very fond of VNs in general, but this game is a piece of its own. Keep on rockin, dev!

TLDR: Good game, worth trying out for most everyone, caveats apply.

I'm a bit torn on this one.
For the longest time, I wanted to give the game five stars. It deserves a bonus star for the sheer amount of effort that has clearly gone into making it.
And I'm still awarding that bonus star - it's just, that the game has many little things that nibble away at it's greatness. More on that later.

First let's talk visuals. It's a daz game, which of course shows, but the author has opted for a somewhat artistic approach. Sometimes he uses outlines, the colors feel a little artificial - especially notable during adult scenes - he often uses composite pictures to fill up the screen - laid on top of each other or as a comic-like arrangement. That in mind, the girls are mostly appealing, most people should find someone to fit their taste. The body types are maybe a tad too similar, but it didn't bother me all that much - they are unrealistic, but in the daz-typical "model" way rather than the "the artist scaled breast and butt size to max" way - a good thing in my book.

There's music. At first, I liked that fact, but frankly, it got annoying after a while, so I turned it off in the end. Ymmv.
There's also a small amount of sound, but not too much.

Gameplay - it's a VN, for the most part. But the author likes to experiment, which isn't always to the benefit of the game. Some of the experiments are one-off, for example there's a map screen used in the first chapter that has never made another appearance. Some are used more often, but superficial - for example there's a few mini-free-roam sections, but they are so small as to be unneccessary. Some are omnipresent, such as the social media posts and chatting on the phone. Realistic as that may be, especially in subsequent playthroughts when you want to make use of skip mode, the chats are super annoying because they massively slow the game down. Playing on mobile, the social media things are annoying because it's very, VERY hard to hit the tiny buttons.

The game features a pretty nifty skill system, where every option you pick gives you points in one of four groups which you can then use to buy traits in this group. I really liked this at first, until I noticed - especially upon replaying the game - how underutilized it is. Sometimes, you can end up in situations where you cannot take an option you would like to pick and that would also be reasonable in context of your other chocies, but you cannot pick it because you lack the points to buy a certain trait. Though, admittedly, this problem all but disappears in later chapters, when you are literally swimming in points. I also feel some traits should be mutually exclusive, but maybe that's just me. I still like the system more than I dislike it, but the game lacks enough opportinities to use the traits, at least so far.

Anyway, it's evident the author went to great lengths to make this more than a pure VN, and he was successful. Sometimes, it's not exactly an improvement, but that's probably in the eye of the beholder.

Onwards to the story / content. I'm not entirely sure the game really has a story worth calling that. There's a strand to be sure, but it seems to be more about the little side-stories related to each of the love interests (which covers almost all females in the game). In my first playthrough, when I just played and picked intuitively, I ended up in a great spot that felt rewarding.
However, subsequent playthroughs revealed that many things are but a smokescreen, you will end up in the same situations regardless of your choices, with very few exceptions. The author does a decent job of accounting for your choices, but ... yeah, they mostly have little impact.
Each of the girls is really, REALLY hung up on her kinks, and those are then all but forced on you (the player) if you're at all interested in pursuing the girl.
That wasn't a great discovery for me, as I dislike some of the kinks depicted.
For example, I'm not a big fan of humiliating or being humiliated by girls, but both things feature prominently here. You do have some semblance of control at least with a few girls, but there's also situations where refusing the kink means just no content.
The good news is that you're pretty free to explore, even though there's no harem tag on the game, it at least to this point IS a harem game. You can go exclusive with one or two of the girls, but you can't reach this point with most of the girls yet. Even if you do, you're free to cheat so far.

There's also topics that obviously were fleshed out with a lot of effort, for example the psychology stuff. Or Jen's chess playing. It's impressive, but imo, a bit of a waste in an adult game. I tried to read it all on my first playthrough, but basically skipped it all subsequently.

As for the kinky scenes themselves ... there's some hot situations, and like I wrote earlier, in my first playthrough I was happy with what I got, but ... let's say, not all scenes work equally well for me. Matter of taste, though, to be sure.

Final verdict, as I wrote in the TLDR, it's definitely a game worth trying in my book, and some of the criticism still has a chance to disappear depending on future development, but the game is not without flaws.

An insane amount of choices that actually matter and you can be everything from a harem stud to a bull to a sub to a cuck.

It's all there with hot girls.

Kind of wordy but other than that great.

Some more hardcore content and kinks would be fun but I'm guessing it's working up to that.

Really great game with by FAR the best choice /stat system I've seen in any game in here. I picked it up just because I was curious about the point system that looks like a skill tree but after playing it I'm sold on the great characters and story too. This game also has lots of content per episode and it's definitely worth checking out.

Nothing is Forever is a game that is worth playing. It has a wide variety of kinks that would be enjoyed by both dominant as well as submissive players. Here are my thoughts on the game:

What I enjoyed:
+ Premise. The premise is quite grounded where our MC is a sports psychologist who had left his previous job since there were rumors that he had sex with a client. The cast of characters are all believable: a client who tempts MC to repeat what made him lose his job the last time, a friend/rival, three women who work in MC's support staff and two girlfriends of MC's friends.
+ Story. Well-written plot that never seems to drag on. Each LI has their own troubles and they grow as characters with the help of our MC. It's a long story too. I have a playtime of 30+ hours and yet I have completed only 90% of the game. I enjoyed reading MC's struggles and how he is slowly overcoming them during each chapter.
+ Kinks. Strongest point of the game. Wide variety of kinks that allow the player to play according to his tastes. Almost every girl has a path that caters to a dominant player as well as a submissive player.
+ Characters. Very interesting characters. Both the LIs and the non-LIs i.e. MC's friends who aren't as annoying as normal AVN best friends. They have their growths throughout the story and I can't wait to see what the dev has in store for them.
+ Chess and Psychology. Well-researched and written in a manner that is understandable to a layman. The chess aspect was a good addition which makes the game unique. Perhaps, the outcome or play style of Jen's chess games can be influenced by her love life (or the lack of it) with MC too. That would improve the impressiveness of the game.

Meh:
= Writing. The dialogues seem to go on for too long. Our MC is too talkative for a submissive. There are plenty of errors in the dialogue in Chapter 6. On the other hand, the writing is convincing on MC's discussions on mental health and sexology. It is both well-researched and understandable to a layman like me.
= Romance. The romance is usually well-written with good plots for Jen, Emma, Lea and Deb. The other three characters have largely been sidelined so far. I did think that MC was too dense to never notice Emma's infatuation.

What could be improved:
- Renders and Animations. This is the weakest point of the game. The faces of all characters look attractive, but the bodies look odd and their skins look plastic-like. It might be a stylistic choice, but it doesn't look good imo. It serves as a distraction while playing the game sometimes. There almost no animations either which acts as a hindrance especially in scenes which are supposed to show how rough the sex could be.

Edit: Overall, I'd rate it at 8.5/10. I reduced a star mostly because I can't rate it at 5/5 with the subpar renders. Good game on all other parameters though.

This is probly the best adult game i have ever played, the characters personalities, your choices, and especly the kink/point system.. i had no idea what to expect going in, i just saw the fetishes and decided to give it a go, but man.. this is as much a good and engageing story of action and consequence as its a fapping game, if you dont want to read, skip this one.. if all you want is sex scenes i cant recommend this, but allmost any kink is catered to, and you can choose for yourself what "dishes you want to sample" i am very impressed, i dont know how long this is, i been going for 5 hours so far, and havent finished it yet..i cant recommend this game enough if you like a story where characters have personalities and flaws for better or worse..

Really like this one, it has a very interesting fetish point system kinda like a perk tree, wish more games did this. Also worth noting that the characters themselves also have multiple paths depending on your flavour of kinks.

Its not all smut tho, after playing god knows how many games i rarely bother paying attention to the narative because its rarely worth it, but i did here. Not for the story per se but more for the connection with the characters and the dynamic of the relationships and how it progresses. (wish there was more Kim content hehe)

Really impressed with this game.

First it has lots of kinks, the writing is excellent and the girls are each very unique.

The author clearly knows a ton about psychology and uses it in the game. I even found myself reconsidering some things about myself based on conversations and my actions in the game.

There is a lot of content, it's well written, thoughtful and sexy as hell.

I also really enjoy the gamification system, where I collect points and spend them to get scene's that I'm interested in. Just by seeing which kinks were on the list, I knew what dialogue options I wanted to do to get the girls with the kinks I enjoy.

Really clever.

Kick ass VN! The sheer amount of content and the distinct paths make this game what it is. Tons of kinks so far, with obviously, even more planned. A unique points system. Interesting characters and great dialogue. The cell-shaded looking art is a bit jarring at first, but I got used to it. What an exciting VN. I pray this one ends up getting finished. One of my favorites, for sure.

Absolutely love this game and can't wait to see what happens next. This is the only game I've played in a long time that actually got me to care about the characters.

I am loving the humiliation and femdom scenes, they're so well done and all the characters feel like real people, like this could actually be happening right now and it would be believable.

What makes this game unique are the five “inner demons” of MC, dialogues, MC himself and graphics.

I think that this game should be played at least two times by anybody.

First, I advise you to play it like you would do in rl. MC’s inner demons are interesting and show different points of view than yours, but almost always plausible.

Second, I highly advise you to play this game without regard to the consequences of MC’s actions. Even if MC’s not punished in “real life”, his inner demons don’t leave him in peace.

Dialogues are interesting. I almost didn’t skip any of them, which is rare for me in porn games. And few I skipped were during sex scenes. MC has a vast psychological knowledge and is sharing it with other characters and the player. He also can lie, when he’s manipulating other characters, but the warning about psychological information in the game being all made-up is at least partially false. Quite likely for legal reasons and those that perceive psychology as exact, unerring science.

MC is a rare instance of existence in porn games that is both competent in his specialization and humanly fallible, supporting the realism.

Realism is also made by showing plausible events and situations that are happening during a long time. Ofc dev is using “time skip”, like giving information that 3 weeks has passed, to not bore the player.

Graphics are unique and it can take time to get used to them. However the art style is quite likely timeless, so it may be passable even after many years from now. Animations are short and look simple.

Characters are different from each other, interesting and realistic.

Replayability is high, supported by curiosity of the consequences of different choices, different relations with female characters and different kinks of love interests. When it’s possible for example to guide MC to be dom for one woman and sub for another, it doesn’t cover 100 % lewd scenes, as MC’s usually can use a different approach then female preferred kink.

I bored myself writing this review. Simply play this game, it’s much more interesting than my review.
