Seeing as most of the people on this forum seem to be technically included, it'd be a LOT cheaper to just run your own and set up a vector db to store the important pieces of your convo to increase your context window. If you have a GPU try setting up ollama and you can run it all locally too.

There is a long string of dead sites that started exactly this way. Each one of them swore that it was just this little thing but the bots will totally remain unfiltered. But sure enough, they all ended the same way lol.
Anyways, while JAI has a large userbase and good creators, the site is just subpar because it lacks the new customization features and player control. I've opened my eyes to greater possibilities by using ChubAI with a free reverse proxy (CosmosRP). But Chub has a distinct lack of creators. You can import from other places, but I can't be bothered with that, heh.

And much more. I meant the whole AI chat thing, learning about the tech and how to set up the entire thing locally. Learning about models, maybe even making my own little app to chat with it and stuff.
Does anyone know if there is a substantial difference in the quality of RP with a paid Spicychat account and a free one? I see a lot of the LLMs are locked behind a paywall (ie: most of the nsfw ones)
Learning more about the technical details of LLMs/AI is definitely a good idea if you want to get more out of this hobby.

and quickly skimming through their docs, I'm not very impressed, to put it politely. Asking for around 5 bucks for 3k context? That might have been acceptable two years ago, but nowadays you can get 8k context for free. Maybe their highest subscription tier might be worth a look, if the premium models are decent and you are also looking for image generation as well (provided the image gen is usable), but their lower tier subscriptions seem to be a waste of money.Yeah, I went for the 15$ sub and then realized that all of the nsfw focused LLMs are locked behind the 25$ sub so now I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place lol. The SpicyXL is really pretty good, possibly the best I've used but I don't have a massive amount of experience or anything, just tried JAI and Athene's Sentient AI before. I don't know if its worth 25$ for more than one month... but Its probably not too bad to try out for one month just to mess around with it and for novelty sake.
Which models are available for which prices is definitely vague when you are looking at the advertising so I have you all the prices for each one right there for easy viewing so hopefully other people don't make the same mistake I did (I had the impression that WizardLM is available at the 15$ level but its really 25.)

I never paid for one of these sites, so I don't have experience with the "best" LLMs, but I doubt any of it is really worth it. All the free models I've tried on aisekai, yodayo, JAI, and chub pretty much work similarly. They got their own quirks and what not, and more advanced models will certainly be better equipped to follow complex scenarios, but by and large, what you get out of chat bots depends MUCH more on your skills as a prompter and the quality of the bot. To me, any reasonably trained model is workable. What I think is more important is the token limit. 4K was the norm for free sites before, but now it's 8K. And that does make a noticeable difference in how well the bot can follow longer stories (which still requires user skills in guiding the bot through the rp).
AFAIK, on local set ups, you can get like 32K token limit. I'm pretty curious about how that plays out compared to what I'm used to.
