Agreed, there is nothign wrong with listening to critics but as the storyteller you do have the final word on how the story is told and what is told.My two cents, don't end up letting your community drag you all over the place, or you'll just end up in a tangled mess that'll piss you and everyone else off. Feedback is important, but you're the creator here, YOU ultimately dictate the direction and pace of YOUR story. Write multiple drafts for routes/ideas you're interested in, and maybe let people vote on which things to follow, but don't let people's opinions supersede your interest in your own story. What's important is that you have a solid direction/framework for what YOU want the game to accomplish.
It's not going ot be for everyone at the end of the day and do NOT try to please everyone, it's the surrest way to loose yourself in details and turn everything into mush. To be polite.
