at that point, the dev's vacation time is more than earned. as for the employer thing, the way the dev talked about it felt like a "resign from the job" thing. it's not fewer days but a full-on quit. this is why some guys got worried, since the dev basically quit a well-paying job just to concentrate on an indie game.
edit: others have pointed out that it was just a reduction of work hours.

I took this info from a patreon post from 07/25, and it was specifically about reducing working hours. Maybe something has changed:
I can reassure every one. Nosy work time has been reduced to 2 days a week.
