He was really tired when he finished that update. He went several days without sleep at that timeWhat does that mean
Every developer uses some sort of fucking version control. In a typical day they should commit 5-15 changes. That's 5-15 "backups" made EVERY SINGLE WORK DAY. Sorry, but as a developer working ~10 years in unity, nosy's excuses are BS, he has either no idea what he's doing or is straight up lying.stop crying people, you cant back up every day, depending on how long it takes
and you dont expect hardware failure all the time
backing up is important, Im sure Nosy does that
just unlucky ig
no data was lost, thats the upside.
Funny you mention that because this project is not even a year old.but as a developer working ~10 years in unity
What does this change? There are multiple projects on this site that are going through infinite cycles of refactors. Even Nosy states that he "improves" already existing mechanics in each release. All of the problems with the game mechanics and systems that he encounters during development are caused by his poor knowledge of the engine. Add to that the scope creep mentioned pages ago and you have the current state of the project.Funny you mention that because this project is not even a year old.
If he wants a QA, I'm his guyThe story itself is great, AI art quality really good. In my perspective he either needs a real team with PM, additional programmers & QA to develop his vision or we will be here really long time.
Precisely what I mean. All of the problems with the game mechanics and systems that he encounters during development are caused by his poor knowledge of the engine.
Lost data due to PC crash, update will be released this week.Excuse me, could someone tell me what's going on with the new update? Since I'm not subscribed to Patreon, I don't know what the post says.
Thats true, IIRC the My Emily dev also quit because of too much pressure to keep providing content and burnt out, Id rather the same not happen here.Could you all stop whining and/or harassing nosy?
If you like the game and want to see more cool, gotta be patient guess.
If you don't want to support him because you think he is too slow or whatever else, also cool, but stop making it a witch hunt.
You are turning what could be a passion project, into something he might not even want to touch anymore (for a good reason imo).
f95 lesson 47: When delivering files to clients, it is good practice to arbitrarily rename half of them from "xxx.exe" to "[VIRUS] xxx.exe". They need to learn there is no room for peace of mind with technology.F95 should sponsor some sort of basic "game development" class where they can go over basic development practices, like daily backups (offsite), planning, and scheduling.
Got you, but the fact that the game itself has a year, doesn't necessarily mean that he has no/low experience as a programmer.Precisely what I mean.
You don't expect a newbie to be able to master something in a short amount of time.
The problem is the moment you subscribe and are present on his discord, you are basically not allowed to say anything bad. Everyone will eat you alive.Dont get me wrong Nosy's excuse is lame and not knowing how to do version control is an embarrassing mistake for even a rookie dev. But ultimately were not entitled to his labour, especially when we arent paying shit and just downloading pirated versions. Patreons have a valid ground to get frustrated but us pirates going "Hurry up and work harder on the game were gonna take and not pay you for" is kinda cringe.
yeah, like who doesn't back up at least everyday if not multiple times a day?The "My pc crashed and i lost data" is the new "My dog ate my home work"![]()
Absolutely.Unity doesn't use anything fancy (C#), but its low entry barrier often encourages developers to adopt poor practices that inevitably pile up later. The amount of questionable solutions suggested in the web as "valid" for unity is absurd. Combined with the usage of third-party tools/plugins that aren't entirely suited for his project will extend the release cycle.
I might have some assumptions what tool he's using that caused the references to be wiped and if I'm correct then oh boy, it will repeat. Let's say that the 2-3 months release cycle for a HUGE update is valid. What isn't so normal are the constant excuses, lack of communication with his community, and especially stating that he wasn't eating/sleeping because he was working.
