making my own ai sloppa ntr game.
plans/scope

• male mc
• ai art and animations
• phone mechanic(text messages + twitter/OF element for later ntr stages)
• 2.5D freemovement overworld with combat gameplay (deck build jrpg)
• vn dialogue
• 3 main females: busty tomboy childhood friend, kuudere "princess of school", nerdy girl at school that moonlights as popular influencer/streamer/cosplayer gyaru, mcs mother will have some scenes.
• first game so I dont want to drag the ntr build up forever and dont want it to end as soon as arriving at the ntr, might go ntr early into nts/aware of ntr, also dont want to lean too much into sappy love story gone wrong, focus more on eroticism corruption and making the girls become filthy
• lots of ntr character archetypes (playboy blonde, ugly bastard, black foreigner, bully, etc)
• story simplified rundown: mc becomes part of a 4-person secret squad with the girls to fight invaders from a fantasy-like universe (orcs/goblins/monsters). they stay in a futuristic underground military base underneath school. girls fight in tight taimanin inspired bodysuits and mc is strategist/commands them.

first project in unity so im learning as i go. will be a while for sure. all art/animations are made from local models. will make a dev thread when it gets super serious. if you got features or neat ideas that would fit the game and youd like to share, shoot me a dm.

Looking forward to it! Would love to see it transition to nts/aware but like the kind where she does things behind mc's back or doesn't need his permission and he sees it afterwards

Playing through "A Promise Better Left Unkept" for the first time, and it's making me realize how long it's been since I played a NTR game with characters with actual coherent thoughts. Especially the villain. He's obviously a bad guy who's fucking the MC's girlfriend, but in a weird way it also kinda feels like he's this insecure person who's trying to prove something to himself. The villain has done and seen terrible things his entire life, seen people at their worst, and something about the pure honesty and niceness of the MC bothers him. His corruption almost feels like he's doing it half because of the sex, half because he wants to see the MC break. As though seeing him break will make him feel better about his own shittiness.

We need more NTR games where the bull has an interesting dynamic with the guy getting cucked. The main focus is always on the bull and the FMC/the MC and the FMC, (for good reason, it's the most straightforward), but bull and MC dynamics can be just as interesting as well.

Yeah the villain in that one is so obsessed with MC that when I first played through it I was wondering if he was actually gay for him lmao

I'll be honest with you guys, I think RPGMs are far superior to VNs, especially when it comes to NTR. My experiences have been better with RPGMs, especially in terms of hidden NTR or branching routes.
Not to mention things like SFX or in-game features such as cell phones or "battle-fuck".

I personally think RPGMs are filled with useless bloat and grinding. I'd rather just get to the good stuff and not spend an hour doing something totally irrelevant to unlock a scene

It depends. There are many VNs that also fill the time with a lot of expository and useless dialogue.

i generally tend to avoid RPGM games because of the grinding, and sometimes they have pretty rough art. but if the story is good enough i could be tempted. have any recommendations?

If you want zero grinding, I recommend Henteria Chronicles. If you like grinding, I recommend Wailing Guignol.

Because many VN games are not talking advantage of the format.

VNs shine when the character sprites are detailed and expressive, and the music/SFX appropriately used. Not to mention, voice acting acts a lot of flavor. Because the genre is so text-focused, you need strong writing or the entire thing falls flat.

Now, if you are going to use sprites with minimal variations, no voice acting, no solid writing to keep the viewer’s interest, then the flaws are going to become super apparent.

With RPGM games, there are battle and exploration elements to distract players, for better or worse. The "stockiness" of the RPGM assets also prevents the game from being too shit, unlike the default Ren’Py UI which is horrid.

If the RPGM engine didn’t already provide a plethora of tilesets, sprites, and music, then the average RPGM quality would drop drastically.

How many people can design a battle system from scratch, let alone a competent one? Pixel sprites and tilesets? No way in hell that’s happening. You’re getting AI-gen images passed through a pixel filter.

That being said, I’ve played so many RPGM now, that I would rather play mid VNs than mid RPGM. Some RPG Makers contain the most horrendous time wasters, whereas a VN you can skip the terrible parts with CTRL.

Yeah, I never got this excuse. People don’t need to be told you’re working hard.
They can see it in the results of your work.

Now, there will always be naysayers who don’t appreciate your work. But that’s fine.
They were never going to give you money anyway. Ignore them and make stuff for the people who actually care.

Treat your readers right, and the support will follow. No one likes being told they’re underappreciative, so give reasons for people to appreciate you.

The guy already said "especially when it comes to NTR." But I don't disagree with what you said.

And not fully voiced VN can still be hella good: the recent Company Ink is a stellar example. Looks simple from the outside but very well executed, very lively. It's a case where the visual in visual novel is on the display. I personally think only two or three character sprites and a bunch of text in front of a background image is enough to make enough different between a visual novel and a choose your own adventure book.

For jp side, most of them have voice so it's nothing special. But this one and this one also have the visual part stand out.

Some VNs like Homestay (jp side) or hangovercat (western side) with live2d sprites and animation sex scenes looks impressive at first but still not take the visual part seriously imo.

I can kind of understand skipping things in an rpgmaker game but if you're skipping text in a visual novel what's the point? The scenes in any of these games are the weakest part. The art is rarely good enough to stand on its own and it's worse on average now than it was years ago because of the proliferation of ai. I delete games pretty quickly now when I end up skipping around because I can just go look at something better if that's all there is to it.

I’m mostly referring to JVNs, where the art is top-tier and scenes are voice-acted.
I don’t bother reading EVN if I’m going to skip the plot.
The thing is, there actually isn’t that much NTR EVN to begin with—that isn’t AVN slop, of course.
(I don’t mean this disparagingly, but holy is Steam filled with them.)
