Yes, there’s an issue with how this part of the quest interacts with the quest log.
After talking to her, you need to go see the witch, the quest log should update normally after that.

Well shit, I've just softlocked myself from the merchant basement. Was hoping the book would reset the box positions or have an item that teleports you. At least - good thing for the auto save!

Mmh, the quest requires you to talk to the innkeeper first, then the shopkeeper (in the evening), then the witch, and finally the priestess. Normally, the part with the witch is what unlocks the quest log bug. Did you get all the previous dialogues?
