Ntr tag changed to netorare?

That still doesn't make it any better to not have a netorase tag all together, as like I explained before they are completely different scenarios. Its like the cheating tag situation, you never know if it will actually be the content you want or not.
Sure, a more specific tag for netori and netorase is always better and already planned from what I know.

Was just stating that the general definition found in the swinging tag already puts netorase inside it the same way netori is found inside the cheating tag.

So when they finally add those tags they will probably have to edit the swinging/cheating tag definition a bit as well to avoid conflicting with netori/netorase. Altough probably a simple [not applied when refering to a netori/netorase] at the end should suffice.

So on top of adding those tags to many games at once you would probably also need to go back and remove cheating/swinging being used for cases of netori/netorase as it currently is.

One thing that could probably help a bit to avoid this confusion of people assuming swinging is only used for when both people are swapping couples is to rename it as "Sharing", since this wording applies better to both netorase and swinging.

Something to consider Sam since "Sharing" technically describes the definition of that tag better than swinging anyways.

..but swinging sounds more fun.....

While I agree that NTR tag was too vague to tell the user what content he might expect, current tag system is still far from ideal. As others have mentioned, cheating is also is basically the synonym of netorare. Netori is always about MC stealing someone else partner and swinging give me associations of the MC switching partner with a partner from another couple, while netorase giving me association with MC giving their partner to others (Sluttification) without taking someone else partner.

I've often used one site where you can watch anime, and I want to point out what a huge number of tags it has. You can find literally everything you want: maids, demons, angels, catgirls, vampires, samurais, knights, superpowers, psychological etc. And while I'm not that focused on that kind of fine-tuning for anime, in our case it would be really helpful. Just look at the recommendations section, people create threads there every day asking for games with specific things. More tags could make it a lot easier for people to find the specific game they want. And as for adding tags, first of all, the authors themselves add them to the spoiler, you can take them directly from there. Yes, it will all take time, but new games that will appear, will already be marked right. And those games that get updates will get their tags too, if users will be reporting them. Secondly, you could make a tag suggestion system, like in Steam, where people could vote for tags (but not write themselves, so that haters won't abuse it like "game is shit", "protagonist retard")

I'm honestly not very familiar with the situation as to why this is still in limbo. Is it technical difficulty? Or there is some confidence that these vague descriptions are sufficient for a comfortable user experience?

I'm still waiting for the pixel art tag to be added. When I read the discussions about it, I was very disappointed in its absence. As I got from answers that pixel art is 2Dcg and that's why this tag is unnecessary. Yes it is 2Dcg, but there are a lot of games with 2Dcg and pixel art stand out from others by the style. Many people create topics asking to recommend them games with such art style. I'm pretty sure, people would also suggest some other graphic styles, that have popular demand, which will help them find games they're looking for.

By no means, I don't want to seem ungrateful in the eyes of the administration, I just would like to make our beloved site even better and more enjoyable for its users. Thank you for your attention and hope for understanding.

P.S. Sam responded literally 3 minutes before my post was published. But I wouldn't want to delete my post, as I wanted to express this thought a long time ago.

From my understanding the new system will allow for users to participate in tagging and that would alleviate the need for the few moderators to go over every single game re-tagging them.

I also agree that more tags would be better but probably not in the current system, because as of now the biggest issue I see isn't even wrong tags but missing ones, thousands of games are missing tons of tags because noone bothered reporting them.

Take almost any game, play it entirely, and you will probably notice many missing tags. That's why right now more tags would just mean even more missing tags... The less popular a game is the more missing tags you find.

If you want a more concrete example, in VNs people are fast to report sandbox because many vn players hate it. But go to RPGM and you will find only 104 games out of 2366 games, considering most rpgm actually have freeroam mechanics it is funny how underused the tag is there.
And because noone reports it, these games go untagged and it becomes almost impossible to find RPGMs that don't have freeroam mechanics since so few of them are actually tagged.

And if you go on a spree reporting all the games that are missing sandbox tag you will probably receive a request from moderation to stop because they can't go over hundreds of reports for missing tags... (from personal experience)

IMO RPGM (or similar) and sandbox are mutually exclusive and most/all of those 104 are mistagged. :devilish:
Yeah, I know the definition is pretty much just "free roam" but that's too broad to be useful IMO. And as you point out, in practice it's mostly applied to VN-like games with a free-roam component (and usually also things like stats/inventory/money/energy/etc).

If that was the case it would be an easy fix, unfortunetely it isn't.

Like I said, just pick any game that has no active fanbase and play it to completion, then read the full tag list and you will notice tons of missing tags, afteral most uploaders don't even finish the games they post.

So it is up to players, and most players aren't searching for tags while enjoying the game much less reporting them, people usually only report tags that grab their attention during the playthrough, which are often tags they like/dislike...

This isnt much of a big deal and it might be said somewhere on this site but does anyone know why the ntr (netorare) tag has been changed to the actual full word instead of the shortened version (ntr), theres nothing different about it so im not sure why it was changed, unless alot of people surprisingly were on here and didnt know what ntr was or stood for.

The only reason i could think of why it was changed to the full name instead of a shortened version is because maybe netorase might be added at some point? and seeing as theyd both look the same shortened it may confuse people, which on a side note would be a very good tag for them to add because as much as netorare and netorase are similear in nature they hit very different homes on what someone is looking for.

But yeah not the end of the world that they changed it of course just a bit annoying now as before it was very easy to see it as a tag when looking through games with how its pretty short compared to longer tags around that part of the tags alphabetically, but now its a bit harder to notice if something has ntr in it or not at first glance.

Also i dont hate ntr nor would i want EVERY game i play to have ntr so filtering to not have it show or only show ntr games isnt really applicable, incase someone sais to just do either of those.

I'm guessing they finally had enough of people fighting over which version of NTR was the "real" ntr, and too many polar opposite netorare vs netori in-fighting and invading threads to fight eachother and namecalling going on that they finally had to literally spell it out because people can't bother to read the definition on the f95 website as reference. How's that for a runon sentence lol.

I'm almost torn because it makes the tag harder to see lol. But seriously, it's a move long overdue. As far as people complaining about where is the netorase and neteori categories to complement it? A. this is an english website and adding more similar japanese words will only add more confusion to normal visitors. B. Cheating already covers netori, and Swinging covers netorase. So it's redundant to add them in again and only caters to the ocd and the purist manga fans. Currently the is not a cuck/cuckold tag..and they clearly intend to keep it that way because the word is generally charged, and is also just as ambiguously interchangable with netorare and netorase depending on who you talk to.

I amount it to the literotica website and the 25 year long battle their users have over the same exact topic. Instead of (ntr)netori/netorare, literotica categorized a "Loving Wives" tag and their definition explicitly describes the category as cheating wives/cuck category, but instead it's constantly invaded by trolls and people that don't read rules, so users constantly tell people to stop putting cuck shit in the loving wives category because those aren't loving wives and miss the fact that the category is intentionally ironic.

It's already been explained several times why cheating and swing do not cover netori and netorase.

Also the Japanese words are better in everyway as they are more well established for decades in the porn/hentai community. As well as the fact japanese games are one of the guest reasons to use this site if not the biggest.

The lack of tags will only continue to make more and more problems and arguments. The mods refusing to add the tag till this update (that has been said to come for what years now) is only going to compound the problem further that can just be fixed by putting 2 new tags then just let users report games that need them.

I'm looking at UD right now, and I don't see a need for more tags. Also, to note, I'm looking at UD exactly because I don't know and CBA to remember the difference between netori and netorase. Three cognates? Get outta here.

The only one of the three that has no good English equivalent is netorare. I mean, it has, but it's either passive voice, or a charged term, so, let's not do that.

So you admit to not knowing what you are talking about or even the differences between the 3 yet still say we don't need more tags due to your own ignorance of the subject?

Dictionaries exist for this exact purpose. I've done my research, looked up the definitions of these terms, looked up f95 definitions of the relevant tags and found a pretty darn accurate match. Unless you're a terminally pedantic weeb (are you?), these tags work.

Ah yes the "I used urban dictionary (lmao actually thinking that's a credible source) then saw the tags that are inaccurately used on f95 and agree with it so your wrong and a weeb" argument. As well as the admitting in your previous post how you didn't even know the difference between the 3.

The mental gymnastics here truly deserves an Olympic award.

I know the difference, but for two of them I just can't care to remember which term is which because there are good English terms already. If you know a more authoritative source with a short, concise definition (which all the tags have; we don't need your 3-page essay), I dare you to link it.

Bruh literally thinks his use of urban dictionary even remotely gives any strength to his argument lol.

Especially when its been explained why we need more tags not only in this thread but all over the site for years now.

Either way like lerd already posted (also doesn't take long to actually find better sources and more accurate definitions if you actually do the research like you "claimed" to do) vndb has much better definitions.

If you can't even understand that f95 zones definitions are inaccurate and not enough that is your problem.

Maybe will also help, not short, but it explains the linguistic background/context behind netorare and co.
