From a pure business perspective, I don't think f95zone is a smart place to broadcast your game especially if you're capable of releasing to the JP and CN market on dlsite.
Don't get me wrong, I'm full on to that point.
But since people expressed their will to buy the product, and the product even including english from the get go, above the often machine translated games on Ci-en, I'm just curious why some info postings get the JP, EN & I think chinese translation and then some just JP only and since this forum is already filled with enough rant I try my best to wrap my questions with a bit of humor.

It's easy to answer: never trust potential customers. Trust customers. 101 business basic rule.

People can tell "Yeah I love this project I'll definitely buy the game". But it's the exact problem some people here faced when the dev said "The game will release in November."

There's a chance those potential customers won't "respect" their initial thoughts and when they'll see the pirated version, will just think "oh well, since it's in front of me...", or will just have a very bad month and something happened irl and they couldn't control it, yet they still want to "relax" with this specific game at this specific time and won't be willing to wait next pay day.

Of course some people here are really willing to buy the game, but as stated above, those numbers, frankly, are not high.

Those who REALLY want the game are
1: willing to check ci-en/public patreon announcements.
2: already gave a month of patreon and cancelled.

Cleanfield said something very interesting and imo, very true.

This website is not profitable to most "on front" product. Game that are released in one go and with "true" release.

This place regroup let's say... "hobbyists". And those people are most willing to be "part" of developement and are willing to pay this privilege, than buy an already 100% done product.

That's why Patreon product here strives. SummerTime Saga is "free for now" and is maybe willing to steam release in 10 years. But to be fair, at this point, they don't care if the game is pirated, it's been years they earn more than 40K$/month. The longer the project, the better.

Tiramisu didn't approach his game the same way. He wanted a "small" period of developpement (comparatively speaking) and a direct release on official stores. He can't, in all honesty, trust any people speaking here (including myself).

I see what you mean, yeah it's weird. Even Nebel developers, who are Chinese, consistently post all 3 JP, EN, and CN. I don't know why the Australian developer only posts his translated JP text on dlsite. It's not really a problem for me, but it's certainly strange. Maybe it has to do with majority of people commenting on dlsite (his buyers) are JP. But it's such a cheap way to get exposure / legitimacy I don't see why you would omit the EN version, unless maybe the team isn't all EN.

Maybe tiramisu guy is, but others aren't? idk. I don't give a shit.

> people expressed their will to buy the product
Let's not kid ourselves haha

At this point I'd be frustrated and just use Steam to release the game, and worry about DLsite at a more leisurely later date. They clearly won't be lenient in their requirements. I'd imagine a late February to early March release date with how much censorship is demanded if Tiramisu wants to wait for approval and two weeks waiting times. Either way, he's got a lot of work ahead of him.

Is it almost finished then? I was looking at his patreon, and kinda got that vibe. Ive been holding off trying this until then, and thats pretty exciting if true.

I don't understand why the need to perfectly pixelate in the shape of a cock.

Why not just paint the whole thing sex bits with a black square near the croch area? Most of your JP players on dlsite will download the patch anyway.

TiramisuLntr please use an API to censor your stuff. I will be on tomorrow night if you want help to automate the process. It's pretty embarrassing for developers to do this busy work manually when there is technical solutions for this and will probably take you a single work day at most.

The concern is, we cannot assume everyone knows how to replace the patch. Downloading the patch, putting it in the right place and replace the old files, and fix any potential issues occurring in this process, needs some learning curve. A majority of the players they have no computer system knowledge OR would not want to spend the time in replacing the patch (Any setup for a newbie would be time consuming.) Therefore, I want to make sure the game is enjoyable even with the mosaic.

Edit: I got the nudenet working, but it is not working on the pixel art and it has a low accuracy of putting the mosaic.

I recall around 2 years ago, DLsite had started a more restrictive censorship that i know a lot of artist hated. The amount of censorship required for Dlsite is absurd compared to other similar sites, that are located in Japan as well.

Its frustrating but hang in there TiramisuLntr. My suggestion, in the future, if possible, avoid DLsite and promote your products on other sites. You deserve better.

Alright buddy if that's your approach. I don't have data on "technical literacy of drag and drop and replace" of dlsite consumers so I can't even argue with that.

nudenet when I read it only slaps a black box on it and not the pixel perfect pixelated version that you're handcrafting.

My guess is this will take realistically another week then.

DLSite is the biggest marketplace for porn games. Steam also takes a bigger cut I believe. I think they don't want to lose sales to piracy / steam. When they just need to delay it. It's a bit tough sell because most people nowadays have Steam. But Steam doesn't have the forum like ci-en.dlsite.com.

I do think the world is changing and maybe in the future, DLSite becomes less important for the JP/CN h-game market.

Edit: Steam takes 30%, while dlsite is variable
Dlsite takes 50% to 20% based on pricing. It's really about the same. If I release a game though, releasing it on every market available at once is still the way to go to maximized profits.
