theres a few differences between your bathroom and the "classical" im stuck scene, and the biggest one is this: AGENCY

usually mc happens to find someone stuck in a helpless situation, and the MC now has a choice. do i help this stuck person? do i abuse it? if i abuse it, is someone else gonna catch us? etc etc. these choices give the mc power. its still very unrealistic but its the choice that makes this scenario hot.

another difference: being stuck like that somewhere is one huge coincidence. your bathroom scene is one huge coincidence ontop of another coincidence ontop of another one. i even listed it almost step by step a few posts ago as i found the immersionbreak so jarring. it honestly felt almost insulting to expect me as a player to just roll with it.

I actually was being nice. Stuck scene is stuck at an object. My scene is stuck on a human. Therefore, mine has already had no escalation. Its initialization is combined with escalation. So you are talking about AGENCY??? And you think stuck in a washing machine is easier? Then good for you.

thats whataboutism comparing two very different forms of media.

porn mostly focuses on visual presentation of their paid actors and models penetrating each other. the plot is just a flimsy excuse to get them there. but even they found out that having somewhat of a story around it helps with immersion, making their product more effective as jerkoff fantasies.
now compare that to the visual/kinetic novel game form, which is inherently more immersive, with way more focus on how to set up the stage and a whole lot of descriptive words and dialogue to help with that. realism or believability and immersion is the benchmark quality that filters the good from the bad.

Who let you define the difference between porn and VN? Who are you? The Dr. Porn? VN stands for "Visual" Novel. Why does it have to focus on Novel like you say instead of "Visual"? Just about text bloating. The game, for some scenes, have too many, let's call them “fillers”. Maybe A.I. text generates it that way?

Abstract example. In tone of this V.N. Not actual quote.
“Her face suddenly got lit by a smile. She nods. Beads of dew on morning grass touched by gentle wind twinkled magically, creating a surreal atmosphere. Low humming of cars in a distance...”
Bold text is mostly “parasitic”. Not always, but mostly it just eats our time. This just drags time, adding too much text on top of really important information.

Erotic V.N. does not need to be written like high poetry. Or huge general novel. Reading hours of unnecessary text at some point, when the game grows, is not cool. Emotions, thoughts and so on — are great! Really.
But this... “Low light is the office went even dimmer.” O.K... For 1 time. But then something like that example repeats itself in office scenes like 10 or more times — not that great.
Now, like 15-25% of sentences can be cut off the game without any damage to emotions, plot, and even overall atmosphere and satisfaction.


Also, just as human to a good human fellow, doing really some great product for us.
Please do not argue with any kind of haters ever.
They just drain your high spirit. Any NTR haters, any “porn logic is bad” and so on. You have users that are very happy with your work. I see quality in that M.C. is not a complete imbecile like in many NTR games. He is actually not too dumb (for NTR game). Please focus on positive feedback! For your health and wellbeing.

Someone said I have some weird views on this matter a while back but mate, you have some seriously weird views on "moderate critique", which seemingly ranges, in your eyes, from pissing all over the product without any arguments to voicing some valid concerns - but not without insulting the author and/or the product. For the record, I believe you belong to the latter group.

I agree that the author tends to ignore/avoid addressing valid criticism when it's accompanied by insults and generally condescending remarks (as well as the "porn not serious" bit). But let's be honest here, you can't seriously be surprised that people react defensively when you tell them they only value ass kissers (just as an example...) - especially when the reality shows that those who offer critique without taking the piss are addressed with professionalism and their concerns are discussed (in great length and detail).

At the end of the day, it's your choice to be condescending and crude, but at least don't act surprised if you're not taken as seriously as those who adhere to basic courtesy - a life lesson, really.

Really, thank you for your feedback and appreciation! I’ll do my best to ignore those comments, though honestly, it’s harder than I thought, haha.

As for your suggestion, I totally agree with your second example—"Low light in the office went even dimmer." In fact, sometimes I get so focused on figuring out the right character expressions, making sure the emotions behind each line are logical, and deciding what emotion should come next, that I end up overlooking the narrator sentences. It's not an excuse, of course, and I’ll definitely be more careful going forward. Actually, I’ve already received some feedback about dialogue issues in other areas too, so I’ve been spending a lot more time polishing the dialogues for the next version. That’s also one of the reasons I couldn’t update within a week this time.

But regarding your first example—"Her face suddenly got lit by a smile. She nods. Beads of dew on morning grass touched by gentle wind twinkled magically, creating a surreal atmosphere. Low humming of cars in the distance..."—I'm not so sure this kind of description can or should be completely left out. I still feel that some of it serves a purpose. My current thought is to include one or two atmospheric lines at the beginning of each scene. And since my game isn’t exactly text-heavy overall, I think it’s acceptable?

Anyway, I’ve put a lot more effort into both dialogue and narration for v0.6.0. Maybe once you see it, you can tell me if you feel it’s improved enough based on the examples you mentioned?

Actually, if this was not a porn game, I would praise you for your writing and smart use of A.I.
And it's situational, true. That is why I originally wrote — “Not always, but mostly it just eats our time.”

But in the beginning, especially in restaurant (first meeting with his girl), then walk in a park and after jog, scene when they eat, subjectively I read maybe 30+ sentences about people, noise, atmosphere, birds, food, sunlight, and again people, noises, food etc. When 10–15 sentences possibly could do just alright to set and fill those 3 scenes.

And yes — it is your V.N. and you can and actually should write it as you feel right. Because, what makes good authors so precious, when the game is good, and we become attached to the character, is that she or he lives in the author's head. In his imagination.
Changing too much is like breaking character (not about setting scene breaking, but about when some demand drastic changes in characters). And that is why it is so tragic when games got abandoned or something happens to the author. It's like favorite characters die. Sad.


Also, some animation art criticism to balance my sincere appreciation.
Originally, I used only male's perspective in the first two runs, for added mystery. (Last on 0.5.1.) And didn't see this at all to give feedback. Yesterday I played girl's perspective too.
And you, of course, can fully ignore this point of view. Just my 2 cents, that moving art is in some cases is grainy, inconsistent with basic 2D image depictions of the main girl and really much worse. She has like very different faces.

This is fully subjective, but I would 1000x times prefer like 3-4 additional still 2D images of sex or masturbation to 1 grainy sex animation with girl's face that uglified. Sorry, I really can't unsee it.

No problem, and I completely understand that it’s troublesome for you to give concrete examples of exactly how much is enough or too much—it really depends on the specific scene as well. So just in case I didn’t fully grasp what you meant, I suggested that you could take a look at the improvements in v0.6.0 and let me know if you feel it’s better or if it still feels the same.

As for the masturbation animation, I do agree it’s pretty obvious and definitely should have been improved. I think I really started paying more attention to consistency issues and animation quality around v0.4.2, because before that, I honestly wasn’t sure what was considered “good enough” for players, or whether it was worth investing more time into something I wasn’t completely confident about.
However, As for the blowjob animation, I actually did pay attention to the faces too, but when I reviewed the motion scenes, I didn’t notice any significant deformation. I rewatched the animations again, and to be honest, I still don’t see anything too obvious in motion. However, I agree it becomes much more noticeable when viewed as static frames, and I have to say, you really have a good eye for detail. I’ll probably ask my patrons whether the quality issues are noticeable for them or not.

Regarding the penis shadow, I have to admit I wasn’t fully satisfied with it either, but since that was intended as more of a transitional scene rather than a full animation, I just went with it at the time. Fortunately, while working on v0.6.0, I found some new techniques to make these elements more controllable, so hopefully this kind of problem will be less noticeable going forward.
