Hi. Another game (
The big swap) developer is currently running a Patreon poll for the best NSFW animation styles and modes.
I picked a few .gifs that represent options.
And, not a single one of them has eyes problems as far as I can see. But some of them up close, so consistency is naturally better.
Anyway. What do you think about this quality, author?
It's all done with different generative models, as far as I understand. Overall movements and forms are comparable to current NBMF/D animations. But eyes and some face features clarity... Is better in some of these examples.
Yeah, I agree—the eyes in those animations do look really good, better than the ones in my game. But I should also mention that the quality of the eyes is heavily affected by how close the face is to the camera. I think you’d agree that only the first scene truly looks “perfect,” and that’s because the face is extremely close. None of the scenes in my game get that close—probably the closest one is when Cristine is giving Alan a blowjob. In that case, I think the eyes are at least acceptable—still not perfect, of course, because the distance isn’t quite enough.
Aside from that, upscaling and frame interpolation also play a role. The original resolution is just 480p and the framerate is 16fps. I used another model to upscale and interpolate the footage, so there are inevitably some artifacts introduced during the process.
Also, just take bad animations you mentioned earlier for examples: the second scene is from an older version, and I don’t think that issue occurs anymore. As for the third scene, the pupils look smaller due to a “shock” expression, which, like distance, makes it harder to render natural-looking results.
I’m not trying to make excuses—I just want to explain the main reasons behind the differences. I do fully admit that my quality isn’t on par with those better examples.
Since we talk about animation quality again, I’ll share something I had originally planned to mention once it was actually implemented. I revisited that first scene you brought up to figure out why the eyes looked great, even though it was made pretty early on and not that close—and I think I found the answer. So there’s a good chance the eye quality can improve a lot going forward. That said, since I only discovered this yesterday, v0.8.0 probably still have some scenes where the eyes fall short of your standards.
