I just installed it on the latest version and it works for me
No surprise there, probably rushed to provide this current update... I actually like this game and hope the dev takes a bit more time on the scenes and progression as well, but it doesn't help that the general user-base wants updates every couple of months or less.
A few notable reasons:
- allows for more character development: such as developing powers later on -OR- a sort of hidden/subtle power all along...
-underdog mentality and people love to bet on the weaker side... Examples: "David and Goliath", "The 300", "The Boys"
- easier to relate to a character that appears to be "normal"

Hawthorne is not a particular German name. It only reminds me of an ancient British racing driver. And that made me think naming the girl Moss would have made more sense.

It's not just games. I noticed a big uptick in this kind of story shortly after Disney's "Encanto" got super popular. I'm sure there's been stories like that before as well, but I've seen a bunch of similar movies, shows, and games over the last couple years.
When a big producer like that has a big hit, a lot of people try to jump on the gravy train by using the same premise but putting their own spin on it somehow.

This is 2025: the usual tropes of courtship and connection are thrown into the basket, because fewer youn folk are pursuing a relationship, more like a hook up with some emotional support some of the time, then fukk off and go out for somebody else.
It is explored ho independant women emulate the independant men and having men by the actual balls - bioth phisically as MC is not exhibiting any skill at all, but more so mentally: they can and will seduce MC to pacofy and outplay, outsmart, outmaneuver him for their own gain.
You also have to remember that if it is Brad Pit/Leo di Caprio/Tom Cruise coming on to you, it is endearing and bold, but if it is somebody else, it is creepy. Same gender, same moves - biology will dictate the outcome.
Solo leveling and Attack on Titan both feature hopeless heroes, Eren is outsmarted, outmatched, prisoner of war - by others and by his closest female friend - until they somehow become the biggest fish in their ponds by a huge margin.

The trope of the one normal person having to contend with a abnormal reality isn't new by any stretch, remember Twilight? True Blood? Or any other of that seemingly normal girl surrounded by horny supernatural men trying to bang her? Same scenario going back beyond two decades ago.
However as I stated in my previous post, this isn't the case here, its a fake out, like so many other superhero harem games, the hero is likely a power copier of some sort, something to justify him never having found his power previously, but now discovering them when he start to bang some super powered chicks.
