Kiriko sort of shares a body type with a lot of other heroes in the game, which is some mix of skinny and slightly athletic. Her, Tracer, and D.Va all sort of occupy the same 'petite' shape. So if I'm trying to stick close to the in-game proportions, then the challenge is to differentiate them with the details.
I spend a lot of time making thicker or broader women, so Kiriko is another great opportunity to work on a skinnier look. Everything is pretty correct proportionally so it's just about accenting her figure. Thanks to her slightly more conservative outfits it's harder to get an impression for her breast size as opposed to some of the skin-tight outfits we're used to. So I used this as motivation to give her smaller breasts. Since she's skinny I wanted to emphasize the bones, but I felt conflicted about it. The more bony details you show, the farther away you get from the game's style. Move too far away and it looks like an obvious head-hack. So I tried to play it a little safe here.
Overall I like her though. It's nice to have some variety so you take the opportunities to push for something different where you can. Plus more petite women are easier to animate. Less fat = less secondary animation and clipping.
