I mean Mal has changed a lot since DoD days, Ash is not the first to say that, just remember the early chapters where Bronwyn and even Mal herself pointed it out how the transformation had changed her.

I don't think Vel was always manipulating us but it does look like power has corrupted her, I have the feeling she'll either be forced to step down as matriarch or just do it herself before the end, I don't see her remaining as she is right now nor I see her as an antagonist.

And Cerys... I want to trust her after playing her side story, but she's still Cerys

I remember Mal pointing out the physical changes in her body and her never ending blood thirsty. But i don't remember anyone pointing out the psychological changes she suffered after being turned until Ash said it.

Hmm, maybe i missed something since i was playing late in the night.

And i am not trusting Cerys ever again. She blew any chance of redemption to me when she sold out Mal and Devi to become Faye's pets/test subjects.

Seriously, i think Iggy probably expected that "vampire ogre" to at least tire out Malady before her fight. Still have to wonder what she thought would be the consequences of not following the orders of a psycho elder vampire.

It's not something I've touched on yet, but it will be in the next chapter.

Nice to know. It really caught my attention how agressive Mal was being everytime she talked with Vel, even when the later tried to have a somewhat awkward (likely because she didn't believed in the story about who turned Mal) heart to heart conversation with her.

Now i have to wonder if these changes done by Faye also made Malady more pliable to put her trust in someone like Cerys.

I don't think Mal trusts her at all, she just can't kill her and can kinda relate in a way.

Mals been used to do other peoples dirty work, mainly Vels, someone she trusted. Everyone she knows abandoned her (she doesn't know she's had a personality shift yet) and she needs her help.

Depending on love interest she's also possibly banging her sister. Not a great conversation starter, "hey Bronwyn, btw killed your sister lol".

Since we now know from Ash that Malady also suffered personality changes after Faye turned her (BeCe also confirmed it) i am questioning Mal's whole paranoia over Velvet being manipulative.

Mal isn't the only one saying that, everyone that knows her says that about Vel.

But that's less about her personality and more about the position she's in.
