The new update is pretty disappointing. About ~two scenes and very long drawn out lore dumps. Very short update. Some added things like that some of the renders look pretty washed out with some weird color/filter over top. The update doesn't really even contain any major plot points either so its not even a story update. Just mostly empty and disappointing.

I agree with you.
I also think this post is inappropriate, any assessment of the plot or any other creative work is an extremely subjective factor. Something that seems unimportant to you today can be an important basis for the further course of history and the like. Therefore, I always ask critics not to be hasty in their assessments of creative work.
So melanie lets those old ass men grab and touch her and doesn't say anything to her boyfriend. Very start of the game and she's already hiding things and already letting other men touch on her. If there aren't any choices to prevent this sort of thing, you should put it in big bold letters. Games like this usually give the player a choice. There also aren't animated scenes at all, so why lie? That tag should be removed.
