You see, you are kind of right, which is why us, the fans of Oh so hero, are so infuriated. If the game had been bad from the start or whatever, well it wouldn't have been okay, but we wouldn't really care so much, we'd laugh at the bad game design and move on. But no, the game USED to be good, and then it got ruined, by greed no doubt, which is why it hurts. It's never easy to look at a game or dev and go "Man you used to be cool, what happened?"The problem here is not "Oh this game is balls". No. The game is actually good
... As much as I think this game should have been a beat-em-up and not a metroidvania because the level design is so shallow and you can just past everything without any effort(Maybe because they don't want to be compared to other gay NSFW furry beat em up games)
Back when they started the project they were working really hard, doing the animations, moves, the maps, how the maps looked... They even did a Trello to organize all the ideas they had.
And then they went a little overboard
And then the guest characters appeared (hey, they need to value Patrons!)
And then the pandemic happened
And then... Bates happened.
The monthly updates went from "full new maps and enemies" to "a little tweak on something we could have finished months ago" and this is why we are so upset... Or we shouldn't, because we're not paying a single dollar to them.
And so they're going to events and so on trying to sell their game, "wasting time". Yeah, they're completely lost now, but still going on forward.
But even if we don't pay for the game or the patron, we ARE allowed to criticize and point out the flaws in the game or the way it's being developed. You don't have to be a cook or own a restaurant to be allowed to complain about a rat in your soup.
Besides, I don't want to spend money on a project in progress, because even it's good, it can always go bad later. So one should only spend money on finished products, preferably the thoroughy reviewed kind. Imagine if I had spent 1000 dollars on the patreon of Oh so hero, only to be greeted with the dark age of Bates development, I'd be furious, and no, the "Hey at least I spent enough money to be able to complain on porn forums" train of thought would not be of any consolation.
