VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Once a Porn a Time [Ch.2 v0.13] [Salty01]

Game is far too grindy.
I am not too big a fan of the "gimmick" of the waifus being sub sapient AI.
There are only 3 sapients (other than MC) in the game and your relationship with them is simply not developed enough.

MC is a moron who works for free. This is especially annoying when people make fun of you for being so stupid... when you literally can not choose to do otherwise as this is railroaded.

The art is nice. But there is no enough actual sex scenes and for some odd reason you can not repeat the previous scenes you have done.

The patreon only sex scenes are all missable. That means you must enter the patreon code before you start playing for the first time, otherwise you will need to restart the game from the begining to get the patreon scenes you missed. Which is yet another bad decision by the author.

Just plain bad. Hours in with no sex scene. Very cartoony and HUGE amount of grind (any grind is bad.) The only was to reduce grind involves buying something, but the grind is getting money. EXTREMELY slow progress towards anything happening. The game to get money is boring. Dev needs to learn with no h scenes the game is undesirable. We play because we want to see the characters naked and getting fucked, not to simulate flying a drone around looking for stuff. Not to mention difficulty in adult games is overall a bad thing.

Tons of content. Excellent art and engaging story line. No warm blooded human could get bored with it. I've played it through a few times now to get different outcomes. A few confusing moments, but it's not too difficult to figure your way to the next plot beat.

Galley could be organized better. Looks good, but it's a very slow burn / building up to the sexy times...not recommended for a quick fap. You must earn the fap!

Figuring out the drone is easy enough, but you'll definitely need the emergency cells ASAP. Also: explore with the drone every day to get double credits as a bonus.

Game progression is a bit slow to start and can feel repetitive, but it picks up and the content is worth it if you can get passed the start.

Enjoyed the artwork a lot with different outfit unlocks as the game continues. There's a lot of dialogue to go with that makes the characters feel fun.

Not a quick fap but still a game I enjoyed playing thoroughly.

Progression is very slow, which might turn some players away as things can get a little grindy, but it also makes each progression feel very earned and the pace speeds up significantly once you get deeper into the game. The scenes themselves are well done and the animations and presentation are high quality. The automated drone function is sometimes a little buggy, but not to the point where it can't be used, and I haven't encountered any issues with other bugs or problems. Overall, it's very high quality and I'm definitely looking forward to more.

A sandbox game with fairy tales characters

There's patreon stuff on your face all the time
Gameplay is super grindy and there's no reward for it
There's no animation whatsoever
I played the game for 5h and not a single sex scene

My commentary to the dev, if you were playing the game as a player do you think you would enjoy yourself? Right now it feels like bait to attract patrons but with little reward involved

The game is good and the art style is amazing. If you have nostalgia boner where you just want to see your childhood get corrupted, this game is for you. The only problem after playing this is that the grind can get very tedious. It is by no way hard. Just a lot of clicking on various things. I would also recommend saving during important conversations as that can lead to different scenes. The heart option with the magic mirror for example, is not as good as the normal dialog option in my opinion.

The art is nice, the concept is there, the only problem being that the content isnt there just yet. For a game I've been putting off since I saw it early 2020 it really hasn't gone much anywhere to my surprise.

This game is basically didney meets corruption in some crazy space future. Everyone on the planet is an android, or sentient AI in a few cases, and you're given the job of meeting these androids as a sort of administrative character rather than a visitor and thus have the power to influence their programming in order to turn them into sluts.

The whole idea is that Tinker wants to turn the whole planet into one big porn resort because the last dude who owned the planet gave up on it when he found there were censorship programs in place. I believe that's it, at least, I kind of skimmed through the past story bits early on.

Anyway, the gameplay is just pure grinding. The entirety of the game is just doing a few things every day over and over until you make slow progress. Snow White, for example, you give 3 baskets of apples and then it starts a sequence where the next day you come back and she baked you an apple pie and gives you the opportunity to look at her ass. Then the next day is the day you can actually interact with her again. Every time you finish visiting a character all you can really do is send your drone out to collect some resources and then buy stuff before the day ends, read at some point, and then go to sleep and repeat the process all over again. Visit X, go home, send out the drone, buy some stuff, sleep, repeat.

Thats the whole game. When you unlock new characters (theres only 2 right now, a 3rd is currently behind a paywall and two others aren't actually part of your job and possibly just love interests) you're basically applying the same loop to them. So now you're visiting Anna, then Snow White, then going home, sending out the drone, go to sleep, repeat. Progress is painfully slow and the fact that its over a year into development now and there's still almost no content is concerning. It has potential but good god is the development slow.

The art is fine, and the premise is interesting. However, the game's terribly grindy. It's just ridiculous how grindy and what's worse, how monotonous the grind is. Also, recent updates are just remastering content.

Art is good. Premise is decent. Music for the drone is bad. The drone control is bad it's just random seriously in a futuristic world and you can't control your drone at all?

Oh and drone has less movement than a real life drone.. two moves.. 1 search.. in rare event you may find an energy.. only 1 search because than you still need an AP to return and pray you don't hit a random dead end or you will lose the AP to return the drone losing what you found.

The grind to create a single dress was over 10-15 minutes.. and I don't even want to think about creating another character. I talked to Snow White twice and the start of the quest was boring.. you already got to grind for hours but than you get a quest for apple trees? No explanation where the hell your going to get apple trees.

It's a boring drone grinding game where the drone moves a random number of spaces 1-3 for 1 AP and 2 AP to do a search BUT you only get 5 AP. So if you do NOT run into a dead end you can move 2 x and search 1x. Most of the time you find crap credits that is a damn joke of 2 to 50 credits.

Don't bother unless you don't mind a boring drone game before anything else.

This is my favorite porn game. Wish it updated more quickly, but I understand things like this take time. Especially considering I think there is only one person working on this game. I am interested to see what other women get added to the game in future updates.

WHAT IT IS: Good game, good art, amiable humour.
WHAT IT IS NOT: Sex fest fap material.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this game so far (version 0.27 P2)
Looking at other reviews it appears what I enjoy is what some others particularly dislike

This is a game with occasional sex scenes which arrive almost as rewards for perserverance. The scenes are hardcore but are more mischievious than lewd (even verging on cute at times). It is sexy but I really don't think is a game for fapping your way through.

It does have grind but so has pretty much every good RPG, whether it's defeating foes, collecting armour and weaponry, amassing loot. There are a number of actions which are repetitive but the plotlines run chronologically alongside. So most in game days consist of one or two repeated actions and one or two new plot actions.

The NPCs' personalities are well characterised with good dialogue which makes a lot of use of gentle sarcasm and teasing.

The artwork is cracking, both the NPCs and all the backgrounds.

Additionally the developer is good enough to review this thread regularly to help with issues and give advice

Very grindy and it's always teasing. It's as if the entire game was determined to piss you off. Especially the randomness of the drones, the minigame for scavenging is just terrible. Regardless, I think it's got potential if the dev reduces the grind and the randomness, and increases the reward (wether loot reward orlewd stuff with the girls).

Really well polished game, with great artwork. The storyline & writing is good.
Only negatives:
- game can be grindy, with multiple resources needed to progress.
-:the distance between the things you need to click is far, when combined with grind, touchpad can be not great for somebody with a history of rsi.
- one of the quests can lock you out of scenes if you do it wrong, the game does warn you of this.

I'd like to see some animation, but with how good the current artwork is, lack of animation doesn't really bother me.

Man i love this game. The art is great, the characters are sweet and the humor is nice. I just love the annoyed look comming from Snow White when you ask her something lewd!

The grind is at a minimum and only extends a little if you aim for all dresses and hairstyles.

Only downside if you are willing to look for one is its kinda slow paced but for the sake of the story its totally ok for me.

I think this is the first game for me to give 5 stars - Keep it up!

The developer reads the users and tries to solve the problems (but the grinding stills a little too much for me)

After playing all of version 0.26.1 I can say that Once a Porn a Time is a good game. You can see the direct inspiration taken from other trainer games. The writing is funny and the story in my opinion is fresh and original.

With that said, the game is built with Ren'Py. So, expect a lot of text-based menus. Personally, I feel that Salty01 has done a pretty good job managing these menus but it would be nice to see more graphics based menus.

I can say that the game is paced pretty well and if you are looking for a funny-adult game that clearly has time and effort put into it, give it a try. Kudos to the developer and I look forward to future updates.

Great game so, needs more nsfw content though. Too much focus on clothes, hats, and grinding vs. sex. It seems as if the last few updates have included very little nsfw content which is concerning. However, the dialogue is great, art is high quality, and it's clear that the creator understands game design. Excited to see this game with more emphasis on hardcore content as everything else is fantastic.

The only tiny problem i found with the gameplay was the grind, which has improved a lot on recent updates, but even with that its still a bit too grindy, but after all nothing that ruins the experience.
So for me its good a 5 star.
