So now I'm updating my review since I posted it back on December 22, 2019 on June 20, 2021. Been over a year and a half since the game's first release, and I am sadly disappointed. So I'm adding new sexual content category.
So I still find the art, characters and story pretty good and promising. I love the way Salty has the MC interact with everyone in the scenes. And while the scenes are still pretty good, I'm pretty disappointed in the lack of sexual content. This is a porn game after all, it's what we're all here for.
I understand that drawing art takes a lot more time and effort than using 3d models, but right now there's only one girl (Anna) you can have sex with, which is currently a non-repeatable event; that also includes a face fuck at the start, and I'll admit was pretty nice. There's about three other scenes I've seen so far where the MC and a female character actually interacts sexually (as in he's not just sitting there watching them do something or he's jacking off to them without their knowledge), and one of those scenes is locked behind a paywall. For the most part, it's just the MC asking the female characters to show their tits and pussy.
While the drone mini-game has been improved on, it's still grindy and rather annoying. It's nice that a visual aspect was added to tell us where a quest item is. Problem is that it's still a pain to play. Can't tell you how many times I had to pull out because I didn't have enough energy to grab the quest item or if I just move forward I'd completely skip the item. Which made me have to either save scum or waste days to repeat the attempt. Once you get access to the plus five AP and emergency energy, it gets easier, but that wasn't till about halfway through the current game.
Now, I'd only knock two stars off for the above, but I also had to knock off a third star because of Salty deciding to lock one of the characters (Rapunzel) and a large chunk of content behind a Patreon paywall. I don't mind if it's a few scenes here and there, but an entire character and a large chunk of content in the game being locked behind a paywall... not something I can really support. I know that the codes for these scenes/character is available in the forums, but I find it ridiculous to lock characters behind a Patreon paywall and waiting for a kind soul to pass the code on.
I still believe that Once a Porn a Time has a lot of potential. But for right now, I have to drop my five star rating, to a two star rating for lack of sexual content and locking a large chunk of content behind a paywall. I know that the codes do make it on here within days of release, but that doesn't change the fact that this is hiding a good chunk of the game behind a paywall.
