I dig corruption and the junkie/sober stuff ... but if you're really living by "all means necessary" it'd make most sense to turn them into whores to make ends meet ... the little twist at the end was interesting though.

These are junkies that haven't hit bottom yet. I wanted to show that side. Many people already know what street whore and street bum junkies are like, but a lot of people avoid that for many years or altogether. I appreciate the comment though and your interest in the game!

Also .. about the save mission ... about the explanation of how the damsel in distress got into it in the 1st place ....

Now if I can somehow trick my mind to have my conviction override my aversion to needles, the same way when I'm donating blood, I will give this a try.

Wow, the originality of this is so moving. Personally just reading the description got me a little watery. I can't play it, but still.

I can't find it now, but someone mentioned the inclusion of meta info in the script about game walkthroughs being out of place. I agree. I think the "Zoey" character is pushing it already, but when Mary also is talking about it, it got a bit much. It felt a bit like the twilight zone because MC lydia and Mary are talking about porn game and walkthrough making as if it's the most natural topic of discussion lol.
More specifically, it felt like an easter egg took center stage instead of just being a small bit that could be appreciated by those who know about Zoey's work. Just my 2 cents on that issue. Not a huge deal either way.

I put that in the first chapter, there's not much else about it in the second, but there is an important reason for the Zoey character. I also just kinda thought it would be a cool backstory for Mary if she did what I did. Write what you know they say. I've had people like you that hate it and I've had others that have absolutely loved it. Can't please everyone. I disagree it takes center stage though. It's in like 2 scenes for a few lines, mostly the phone call, and the pawn shop. Only mention in Chapter 2 is about her payout from Patreon.

I didn't feel so strongly about it to hate it heh. By center stage, I meant that it is a rather significant character trait for Mary. I might have missed something but I believe it's her job essentially? Anyways, no biggie. I just felt it was off, but it's not really brought up constantly like you say.

Yep that's correct it's her job, she had to move back in with her parents and now she does that to make money. Just like any other job, I just though it would be a cool one for her to have.

Committing suicide is at the very least caused by a disease since it's against the very nature of our being to terminate our own existence. The argument could also be made that suicide in itself is a disease or comorbid condition as the literal definition of disease is "any harmful deviation from the normal structural or functional state of an organism".
Likewise most if not all forms of drug abuse has a disease as its root cause. Feeling abandoned/socially disconnected/devastated for an extended period of time(Moderate to severe depression), PTSD, Schizo/Borderline/Bipolar/Dependent PD's to name a few, seem to be the most common causes for serious abuse.
Also very strong evidence that conscious & unconscious self-medication of eg. MAO-Serotonin-Dopamine imbalances like ADHD, Borderline and Bipolar is frequent, especially for 'milder' cases of abuse.
I'm open for debate on whether an action driven by an unconscious mechanism failing to perform its normal functions in the person's brain and from that leading to an intangible, ever-present and perceptible void in the conscious mind which can't be filled by that person's reachable day-to-day stimuli, constitutes a conscious and active choice or not.
Personally I view at least the serious cases of drug abuse as the physical equivalent of being set ablaze with no one around to help, deciding to throw yourself in the nearest reachable liquid only to realize that liquid was searing hot cooking oil which is now slowly eating away your outer shell and stripping you of your identity.
Even if you manage to crawl your way out of it you're still only a fragment of your former self. Rebuilding what was lost requires immense effort on top of having to deal with what is most likely a serious physical and life-long mental addiction, and chances are you still haven't gotten help for the underlying reasons that lead to the drug abuse it in the first place.
You call it choice, I call it failure as a society.
But it isn't about what is normal and fixing what is abnormal/deviating. Rather about what is harmful and detrimental to that person's well-being, and helping them find constructive ways of coping with it.
PS: My apologies Zoey Raven for detracting from the well-made game you've pieced together. Promise to not derail the thread any further.
