I just want to respond publicly to a review calling me out as not being diverse and gender sensitive. Kayla is one of the most important characters in the game, and MC says he was uneducated about transgender and needed to get better about it. If someone wants to slam my renders or writing that is their opinion. But when people are saying things that are not factual, and attacking me personally in a review. I feel the need to step in and correct those. One of my best IRL friends is a lesbian and coming from a music background. I've worked alongside people of all creeds cultures and sexual preferences. This one really hurt my feelings, unlike any other and is just not who I am.

Also side note, Jose speaks exactly like the drug dealers I bought from so that's why he's given an accent.
Please don't take this to heart. Your story is great; it's one of the few on this board I follow.

I never comment. There is so much howling about NTR (still don't understand how cheating has subcategories) and wild supposition regarding plot development that I find it difficult to participate. Just accept that this person is as entitled to their opinion as you are to not give a sh*t what it is... What is gender sensitivity anyway? I can count on 1 hand the number of times my "maleness" has risen to the level of conscious thought in decades and I don't think I've ever cared what "xxxxx-ness" someone else thinks about.

currently at chapter 2. not gonna lie, stealing(kinda want to punch mc for taking advantage on sam) and doing drugs is uncomfortable scene (ill get i used to it soon, i hope)for me. i will continue playing since the story is pretty interesting. quick question tho can we break up with lydia at some point of the game? or the multiple endings will become like haley's story? haley solo and haley with different LI? please don't haha

Look a few pages back in the thread I talked about all that. It's not going to be like Haley's Story, but Lydia will be around until the endings. She is too important to the story and is the canon option, but you can go off with one of the other girls before that happens.

Also this game is steeped in reality, so you're going to see the junkie lifestyle, there is NO NTR though, so don't worry about that. However, the game is not for the faint of heart, I couldn't write it honestly if I watered it down.

Dev Update #22 (Progress)

Mary looks pretty sorry about how she acted yesterday, and maybe a little scared...

We are back in business after the PC upgrades! I have done only a handful of renders so far though. However, I have half of the first day written, so we are playing render catch up now.

This update will be the culmination of the Junkie path, and merger of both the Sober and Junkie Paths. Like I said before, there will still be plenty of ups and downs for our MC and the others in the game, chances to mess up, hardships, etc... But, my vision was always recovery for our MC, so this puts us further on towards that. Now, how will you navigate it? Sobriety is not easy. Will you end up relapsing at some point, will others? We'll find out!

Anyway, just wanted to give you guys a quick update, and let you know where things stand. Hope you are all doing well. Cheers!

Random praise: The chapter 4 pic where they are all together, right after the scene with Audrey is excellent and one of my favorite. Bravo to the developer.

Random criticism: While the writing improves as chapters go by, the slice-of-life discussions start to drag a bit long. I find my elf losing focus and simply skimming to see if there's anything plot-wise in a reply before hitting enter to move on.

However, I have half of the first day written, so we are playing render catch up now.
Half a day written already? IIRC it's 2-3 days per update. So, this progress is promising.

If I got rid of that stuff a lot of people would hate me that really like it, and I wouldn't like the game without it either. Can't all be drama. Russian fiction is my favorite medium of writing, so those light character/relationship building digressions are always going to be part of the game. You are of course always free to skip whatever you would like.

I'll just say this once.
Zoey. You've lived it and you clearly know how to tell it. Just do so and don't look back. There's a lot of reality here, and people can accept it, with or without discomfort, or they can decide (to in my opinion their loss) to pass.

Just as long as you don't do entire releases on how history is shaped by destiny, I'm with you.

Looks like you're outside Mary's, wonder if her parents are home yet. What do you think her Mom will say about Mary finding her stash and taking some. Will she be accepting and supportive of her going into detox?

Ok guys, I promise this Chapter is about much more than just Mary going into detox, but I really don't wanna spoil it. So, I'm using these images of Mary's journey on Day 15 because you already know that's going to happen, based on the previous chapter.

Anyway, just a quick check in, we are at around 600 renders and 2343 lines of code. I still have two scenes left to render in Day 15 and then a "period of time" that comes between Day 15 and Day 16 (don't wanna spoil that either, so I'm being vague). Let's just say this has been some of the most emotional stuff for me to write yet. The actually writing has flowed very easily, but I found myself overcome with emotion at the end of one scene, because it's just so close to my heart, and something I've seen happen before in real life (even though what I wrote was totally fictional, and I didn't even realize it until I was done). That's part of writing a piece like this, but trust me, it was a very good thing, not a sad thing.

I have just a little bit left to write on Day 15, and my rig is churning away as we speak on renders. Don't want to give a release date estimate at this time, but I'd say the update is a little less than half way done. Not sure how long Day 16 will be yet, so I can't be certain.

Hope you are all doing well! Cheers!

Have to say I agree with you on this. I think it is an important part of the game. Honestly I find it helps let the plot sink in while offering some light story to offset the heavier parts. It is one of the things that I have found refreshing in such a deep and dark topic. Probably what keeps me coming back. Other deep topics I have read, where all they did is plot, I would get burned out and have to put it down for a while. Not this.

any chances of femdom female domination?
There is a dom/sub option in the MC's relationship with Barb. Not with any of the other LIs though.

Edit: I doubt we will see whips, chains or ball-gags though. It's more in the attitude of the relationship - who takes charge and bosses the other around.

Question - what do you think of non-12 step secular programs specifically for non-theists like SOS (Secular order for Sobriety) and RR (Rational Recovery?)
" alcoholic and drug recovery programs that are not based on the belief of a higher power? There is now R.R. or Rational Recovery. Below are the key tenants of the program. I agree God has nothing to do with it. I disagree that it is an event.

* Alcoholism is not viewed as a disease
* RR is not a religious/spiritual program
* The label of recovering alcoholic is not used
* There is far less emphasis on recovery groups
* Once AVRT (described below) is mastered there is no need for any additional steps
* Recovery is viewed as an event and not a process
Rational Recovery is similar to AA in that it views lifelong abstinence as the only reliable way to manage this addiction."

Google it as I can't post links.
Last time I checked, and it's been a while, AA had the highest rate of participants getting and staying sober, I believe the same was true for NA. The numbers are kind of fuzzy because since the late 80's the percentage of dually addicted people seeking help from AA has dramatically increased. AA's higher power is pretty nonspecific and no belief in God or gods is required.

Whatever gets someone sober, and allows them to maintain it, good for them. However, my game focuses on the 12 steps and I personally would never be able to view addiction/alcoholism as anything other than a disease. Neither does the majority of the medical community. But, that's not what informs my decision. Life experience does. I would never recommend anything other than AA/NA to someone who came to me with a problem. But, as I said if something is working for someone else, by all means. Also AA/NA welcomes whatever you choose to be a power greater than yourself. This, in my opinion, is why it works if a person has the willingness to work the program. Spirituality can be a lot more than just God of a religion. I know atheists in the program with 30 years.

Zoey Raven honestly man you made a great game with a great concept storyline . The drugs, their effects, the rehab you showed us a great point of not consuming drugs and stay away from those.

Dev Update #24 (Progress)

Why is there an image of Lydia and MC in black and white? Hmm... wonder what that could be?

Just a quick check in with everyone. We are at 1250ish renders and roughly 3800 lines of code (I say that because after I render the next scene that's were it will be, or more). However, I have 6 scenes left in Day 16 (or the second day of the update). They are not small, and the last one will probably be large. I don't want to spoil anything, but I think it will be done in the way Philly gives you a menu and you can pick what you wanna go do first. But, it will all be in one scene. Let's just say most everyone you know in the game baring a few people, will be at the same place on the end of Day 16.

Not comfortable giving a release date yet. I can be fairly certain it will be before the end of the month this time though, as always not promises, but that's a pretty realistic goal this time. We could also break the record for biggest update again! We'll see.

Hope you are all doing well! Cheers!
