Yes, the story is self-contained without relying on plot points from the anime and manga. I don't want to spoil anything because Season 3 of the anime is coming out later this year.Excited to see how this one pans out Scarlett! Just curious, will the story still be easy to follow for those who aren't familiar with One Punch Man or its characters?
Of course, characters and events from Season 1 and early Season 2 will appear and be referenced, but if something is required to understand what's going on, I'll establish it like a normal story would.
A note for more advanced OPM fans: If you've read the story so far, you've probably pinpointed that this is an alternative universe set in the middle of Season 2 because of the early appearance of Do-s and Garou during his early hero hunting days. Personally, I'd say the story is set before the Super Fight Tournament, where Do-s went solo and died on her own.
The story won't be strictly following the webcomic or manga continuity, and the major events of that story and those characters aren't super-important for OPC, which'll focus on the protagonist's growth and their romance with Tats.
There are a few surprises planned for fans of my stuff and fans of OPM.
