VN - Ren'Py - Oppai Odyssey [v0.4.3C] [Cryoxxx]

One of the best sandbox games period.

Originally I was going to say the only thing negative might be the lack of an interesting plot, you just kind of get put on a spaceship and forget the plot, just live your life. But then the first mission happened on a strange earth-like planet and the plot kept going.

Honestly, it was pretty interesting and has a lot of room to grow. I really like how the plot vs chilling on ship dynamic is handled as well, especially if we in the future will be able to put of holding team meeting to continue the main plot for as long as we want, which is currently possible with the second mission, as it hasn't been developed yet.

All the characters are fairly likeable and have some dynamism to them.

Your childhood best friend is really sweet, and her romance is great. Yet she can be sassy at times, and generally feels like a true long-time friend. Her design is also excellent.

The doctor has some pretty interesting dommish like content with her "sex feely inducing drug". However, personally I don't love that content. However, it's just light enough in tone that it doesn't make me uncomfortable and diminish from the rest of the game. Otherwise she has shown some interesting growth by showing a more sensitive side, while she generally acts kind of tough.

The mechanic is my favorite character, and has an amazing tom-boyish attitude and design. She also has an interesting back-story involving her family.

Nyx is a great addition to the team, and a great character. I really like her new gaming quirk, as someone has to fill that role . She has a really cool unique elfish design, and her superior attitude has it's charm, though I hope to see more moments of sensitivity and romance from her sprinkled in. As with the doctor she has some femdom content, but it's consentual and light-hearted enough that it honestly adds to the game, not detract from it for me personally.

Otherwise the animations and sex-scenes are great. I personally love the illusion-like style, so I guess im biased. However, i've definetly seen way worse implementations of this style, and think a lot has been achieved with it here.

Gameplay wise navigating the ship and map is made extremly easy, and similar to hero's harem guild, you always know exactly where to find content you haven't seen, and can easily replay it at any time through the gallery. This is how sandbox content can be executed in a fun, interesting manner without taking away from the experience.

The atmosphere feels great and mass-effect like in nature. You have to take care of your crew and you get to explore interesting planets while getting closer to your crew.

Overall/Tldr; it's a 10/10, easy to play sandbox game, with lots of content and potential. Would play again, will definetly keep an eye on future updates.

Finally: the only real cons are:

Lack of sound - no music, no sfx. Would love some moaning during sex scenes like with the game ripples and a few others. As well as some atmospheric music.

The game might turn of people that can't stand any form of femdom or dom. (though it's a bonus for most people I think, with its light nature).

Personally I wish more of the characters had pubic hair, but at least one has it, so I cant complain compared to most games.

No clue why Alex is included in the game. As the only other male he doesn't seem like a great buddy character. He barely shows up in the game at all. Luckily he isnt here for ntr purposes, I hope that remains the case, however really don't get what the point of him is. He doesn't really seem needed at all.

I hope the game sticks to its non-ntr nature, and harem route. I can appreciate a game with different routes, but sometimes I just want a game where everyone can be friends and appreciate eachother.

This would be my review after playing since version 0.1 to 0.3.1.
First of all sorry for my English I hope to not make your eyes bleed

History
In the beginning it felt a big change from the school to the space and the teacher didn’t have more role than show the animation for those who are starting the game. After that the development of the history was good and interesting for me even if I don’t know barely anything about the big plot outside the ship, until now it was more focused in develop the character’s background and personality.
Edit: Every release is a chapter with a conclusion, so you dont have to remember what's going on every new update

Characters
There are a lot of work in the design of characters, all are different and with their own behavior, at same time they have a good appearance and quality

Animation
The first scenes was just average since the camera or movement were too rigid. But with the time they improved a lot specially the last updates they were amazing, more angles, more movements and expression in the faces.

Fetish
I know this is something that a lot of players are worried, most of the scenes are with mutual agreement but around 2-3 from 25 could be a bit controversial (female domination). In the beginning those scenes were obligatory but know can be skipped if you don’t like them, for what I have played and developer has being explaining that amount of content would be minority and skippable.

Improvements
This could be the most positive part of my review because the game had a just average start, it had nothing really special more than the possibility to be a good game in the future. The point is the developer took his time in reading the constructive messages from community to improve the game, obviously it will never be perfect for everyone… for example until now by request we got gallery for scenes, easier way to travel around the ship and some help to know where to go without random grind.

Oppai Odyssey was recommended to me by someone and I am so glad they did. I have always enjoyed sci-fi and space exploration and this is perfectly themed for that. A humorous thing I found is that they have spacecraft capable of interstellar travel but still have Samsung smartphones.

I really love all the girls models in this game and feel there is a nice variety to start of a game, even though I know there will be others in the future. I do not find the girls to be rubber stamped out, as each seems to be unique enough to make each girl worth getting to know. Also the one characters femdom stuff I found to be totally cool, and something the dev should be proud of, since most games seem to portray Domme as bitches. Also the animations are top notch and love the fact the dev has taken the trouble to actually do camera angle changes for them. The lewd scenes are varied and not boring at all.

I have seen other reviews complaining on the movement around the space ship being kind of a grind, but in the newest version the dev has added the ability to click the minimap making it way less of a grind. The dev also has a good hint system without being intrusive with being able to tell which girls have an event on the minimap easily.

There is no choice, there is no purpose to the gameplay (moving around map, time, etc...)

story is weak and cliche doesn't even have real aliens at least (right away get screwed by doctor with rape drug sci-fi she joins and everyone gets drug too all women sex wopE).

Has ok animations and graphics (nothing outstanding but for low budget it good)

Would been best had it just been a kinect novel there 0 reason to all of it not being as it just takes more time and the only control you truly have is the order you have sex/pointless bad story bits that fit porno quaility little else.

Even repeat scenes break immersion and could have been easily fixed with small common tweak
(like watch tv has a story happen after it so after 1st time it should just instead make it end after watch tv segment so it just hanging out)--> granted again since this has 0 effect there no getting/losing relationship points or w/e it would just be rp, but it beats breaking immersion OR
They could just remove them as they are never the sex scenes oddly >_> and therefore pointless you can even scroll back if you ""accidently"" skipped.


The only plus I can give to gameplay is least it quick once you get passed the umm short tutorial and start? -> some reason you have to unlock ability to skip time and teleport to rooms (should be just auto when you doing tour of ship ..)

Again graphics and sex bits are alright so if you just want to press skip and get to them go ahead (be warned the skip will also quickly skip them but again scroll up and you can go back).

Though as said there are better sex games if that all you want.

I thoroughly enjoy Oppai Odyssey, have only been playing since V0.2.3 but it has more definitely piqued my interest and can't wait for more updates, this is one of the small few i'd rate highly for my interest and will continue to support where I can as in my opinion it's more than worth it.

I of course have a couple favourites, but who can blame me, right?

Very Good art and animation, lacks guidance for content unlocking, spent a lot of time just going to random girls in different locations trying to see what I missed, has a lot of potential but needs more UI and Menus. Navigating the ship is difficult.

put 2 stars for the normal graphics and the first part of the game before returning from the planet, the reason is simple and this is a colossal deterioration in the plot and behavior of the MC. The guy has a relationship with a teacher, regular meetings with naked girls, and has a seizure and stuttering when he sees naked breasts in a sauna (.wtf?). The scene where Liam's room is filled with an aphrodisiac, she masturbates, and the host just spies on her like a schoolboy, and then runs away (.wtf?). In addition to the scene of female domination, well, I agree, there are those who like it, but you can make it so that there are options with different development and not skip the scene (for example, in the last scene with FD, pressing the resistance button, put a dialogue with the girl (you are adamant, this time I'll let you finish.) You can develop your characters more flexibly.

Good Points
+ We have good-looking renders and art styles along with attractive women/girls.
+ We have an interesting story and characters. And we have a lot of funny scenes as well, like Spike and his little tank.
+ We have well-made animations for sex scenes.

Bad Points
- Sex scenes have too many FPS or POV angles and they do look bad, the game needs some TPS sex scenes.
- With every update we see more weird things, especially Alex's scenes are not enjoyable at all to watch, in fact having no option to not have Alex in the crew in first place makes no sense. And with 0.3.9 we got scene involved alien named Kal and it was weird AF as well...
- MC having that small and common room makes no sense at all, as a captain of the ship he should have bigger and cooler room, that would be more logical than having that small room for sure.
- DR. Clermont face looks too plastic-like, could use some change.
- NYX Injury was a plot with a lot of promise, it could have been used in many different ways. First of all, that bind/bound thing can be done with MC, and NYX or MC could be in control (depends on the players path, it would a lot of sense since paths exist) or things can be taken further and MC would gain crest powers because of that bind/bound thing, and considering all things going on and how powerful our enemies are that would make a lot of sense and would be cool... Or any other thing could be done about this plot... Like anything, even if she just injured her body and not crest and she just recovering would make sense. Instead, we got two options, the first one was to bind NYX with Pip, and the second one was striping her of powers and both make no sense at all... It's just big wasted or even ruined potential... What waste...

For The End
Well, what can I say? This game always had great potential and there were times it did reach that potential, but the last couple of updates were bad (despite some promising plot there and there) and this game is wasting/ruining all that potential it has, writers seriously need to up their game (pun) and fix the things.

If you like being dominated by woman I guess you found the right game. The game starts you out were you kinda seem like a bad ass captain about to go off to space with a bunch of hot women. But soon as your on the ship they seem to start to treating you like a bitch boi. For me it got super annoying even more then navigating that damn ship. Worse yet was how you repeat the same scenes over and over. This game wouldnt take long to play if it wasnt for all the wasted time. I loved the hot blond girl she was super sexy. But she wasnt what it seemed. She came off innocent but wasnt. I don't recommend this game only because if your not into being dominated you wont most of it. The sandbox style of this game was what truely killed it. Roaming in a ship thats so annoying to navigate. Thats the word for this game all around ANNOYING.

Kind of surprised this doesn't have more reviews. The graphics in general and animations specifically are extremely, uncommonly hot. Tbh the image in the main post doesn't do the game justice. Highly recommended through version 0.2 2.

To begin with, I absolutely enjoyed the playthrough.
The girls are charming, is a plus for me. They have personalities as far as this type of game allows it.
The story even with some holes, still solid.
The interactions are simple and straightforward which is nice.

But still I want to facepalm several times and it's not the bad thing, but maybe I like the game to be a little more realistic.
Main character, dressed up in space suit at home, why? To run around town with space costume? Even with a sword to boot!
They throw cadets without any real experience without any supervisor to space, for real?

The point that you can't say no, to the [girl with magic hand] is clearly strange, it's looped and pointless. Why do you give the player a choice that lead nowhere? And this scenario repeted a few times at that!

Anyway, overall the game has a good feeling. I like how devs improve it over the time and good game to enjoy.

Dev has improved a lot.

Pros: A likeable MC,likeable female characters,some dummy THICC female models,the plot is coherent,no jarring bugs,or English errors.

Not a fan of femfom,but it is avoidable,which is a plus as well.

I do miss the original orc scene.

I just replayed the game and unfortunately I can't bring myself to raise the star rating past 3. I'm not sure where the old and new events start and stop. Maybe when there's an exclamation mark next to a green circle on the map that's the indication? I'm sure quite a few more events have been added since I played, but the storylines need a lot more content.

The major gripe I have with it being a sandbox is that there's no real indication you've reached the end of the current content. Plus you can go quite a few in game days with no events happening and ones you've played don't change when the npc levels for romance and such go up.

The updated prologue and storyline makes a lot more sense than the old one which was not very good. The animations are some of the best I've ever seen in any game that I've played. The ship backgrounds however look very outdated and the lack of locations in the ship to explore need to be reworked and updated.

A fall from grace...
the remake makes certain scenes feel out of place or sometimes not fit the story at all
the characters (along with the mc) have become too inconsistent
there personalities differ by event even on the same Arc

the game has become a mess, a shell of what it was...the only thing good about the game right now might be the renders

Game looks very good at this stage of development. This is one of the few games where I don't want to skip tons of boring dialogues, it's very well written here. Conception of the game looks interesting and fresh. Graphics is amazing for game in early development, and looks much better than most RenPy games, animations look very high quality and smooth (smoothness of animations is really big problem in renpy games). And, of course, girls there looks very sweet. Bodies is very detailed, they looks perfect in close ups (this is very common here and I like it <3) . My favorite is Noel atm :3

Update: While there's still some things from 0.3/0.3b I miss, overall the game has improved on some of it's issues and added a fair amount of content. The Dev also appeared to take player feedback into account, which I appreciate over some devs who double down on bad parts of their game. Overall, bumping it up to a 4.

There's a good game in here somewhere but... just tooooooo sand box'y. The navigation system is head scratchingly poor game design. At a minimum that map needs auto travel to locations.

The renders themselves are above average, liked the scenes so far, and it's a fun enough plot, so this isn't a case of a 'bad' game, and there's the ingredients of a 'good' game in it. That said, with this little guidance and this poor of controls in a sandbox style it's just a wander/click/wasted time fest.

Hopefully those play aspects refine down the road to match the adult content which while it takes too much effort to get to leads some hope the game could improve.

good game, most of all liked Noel. inconvenient to move between locations, repetitive scenes are not good. feels that the game was made with love, I hope it will develop and it will have something to do.

Completely re-doing my review here as everything i had in issue with in the early build was addressed positively by the dev. Excellent game. I does still start out a bit oddly but once you get into space the game really shines. Interesting plot and fun and interesting LIs. Dev does a really nice job with HS and the models look great. Definitely a game everyone should check out
