wouldn't count on it. As for dev time, he's been ramping up render numbers, so it will possibly will take more than 3 months.

Based on the below update, that's about what I'm expecting too if there aren't big disruptions. Biggest update to date yet though it seems, so looking forward to that for sure.

Development Blog - Dec 25

Hi all.

I hope everyone has had an awesome holiday season, whatever you were doing over it.

I’m just going to do a quick development update at the moment as the anniversary blog was a lot of information and I don’t have much more of an update since then as I’ve been extremely busy over the Christmas period being a dad and all that (all while still Daz posing like a madman in the evening).

The main piece of news is that I’m about… maybe 30 renders off finishing the posing the final scene of Chapter 9. I won’t give anything away about what this scene entails, but it’s very different and personally, I think it’s really awesome. I hope you guys love it as much as I do.

At the moment, Chapter 9 is clocking in at 1905 renders, probably closer to 1950 once I’m done. So yes, absolutely the biggest update yet for render count.

The bad news is that I’ve been so fixated on the posing and making sure my render PC constantly has a queue, that I haven’t touched any of the other stuff that comes with an each update yet. So, I still have ALL of the postworking to do, the audio work, the lewd scene writing, the testing/proofreading. On top of that, I’m still working on preparing the Steam release which is slowing things down somewhat too. So yeah, there’s still going to be a bit of a wait, but I’m working as hard as I possibly can.

That’s all I’ve got for you this month.

As I don’t even have time to do a New Year render this time around, have a happy new year when it comes!

I believe the first 8 chapters are intended to be a Season 1. Steam doesn't really accept new Early Access adult games anymore (thought ones that were accepted earlier seem fine, for now), so it's either release it in seasons or not until it's done.

I assume they meant would it be a stand-alone install, since some developers do that to manage file size. To answer that question, I don't really remember if JDOR has said one way or another.

1) chapters, grouped together seasons...

4) new year, new season ?

just see no more money, that is one story in 3 seasons or so....

JDOR has said that Origin Story as originally written was about 20 chapters, though it might be slightly longer now. The next chapter (Chapter 9) takes place the day after Chapter 8, so it's definitely the same story and a direct continuation.

Well, considering that the .zip for 8.1 is already at near 6GB, and that devs usually split into two at ~5GB, it could go either way.

Well, the games I've been playing, that are actually split into parts, they usually do the split once file size reaches around 5GB packaged.

I'm not saying all devs split at that size. I have played others with an 11GB plus archive size for a Ren'py game.

some do split it earlier, but even that is not always because of the size but because they are splitting the story itself into seasons for example, and in that case it make sense to make a new executable etc, esp if they are selling it by season on steam. But to say they "usually" do it at ~5gb because of the size is just not true. I have over a 100 installed at any given time, many are in 7-15 gb range
